Volleyball Opens State Play Today

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine volleyball team opens play in the A/AA State Tournament today when they host Elite Scholars Academy from Jonesboro at the Dade County High School gym at 5:30 p.m.

DCHS finished second in their area behind Gordon Lee and earned the right to host a first round match in the state tournament.

The Royal Knights come in with an overall record of 13-3, 6-2 in area and finished in third place in A/AA Area 5 Public behind Lovett and Pace Academy.

The Lady Wolverines finished the season with an overall record of 18-17 and 4-2 in Area 7.
In the Area 7 tournament Dade faced Fannin County in their first match and came away winning the first two sets 25-15 and 25-19 to take the match 2-0 and advance to the finals.

Highlights from that match are Logan Frint, nine kills, three digs; Kendal Emmett, two kills, four assist, seven digs; Zoie Smith, 10 assist, 12 digs; Brooklyn Konrad, two kills, two blocks; Heidi Raines, four kills, three digs; and Delaynee Davis, five digs.

The Lady Wolverines then faced Gordon Lee in the championship match and dropped all three sets, 25-13, 25-8, and 25-17.

Highlights for the match were Logan Frint, two kills, five digs; Kendal Emmett, seven digs; Zoie Smith, two kills, seven assists, seven digs; Brooklyn Konrad, four kills, one block; Heidi Raines, eight digs; and Delaynee Davis, 19 digs.

Everyone get out and support the Lady Wolverine volleyball team and help them bring home a first round win in the state tournament! Good luck Lady Wolverines!
