DCHS Tied For First Place In A–AA Area Volleyball Standings

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine volleyball team picked up three big A-AA Area matches last week and are now in a tie for first place with the Gordon Lee Lady Trojans.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21 the Lady Wolverines hosted the Trion Lady Bulldogs and the Fannin County Lady Rebels.

The Lady Bulldogs of Trion were up first for the Lady Wolverines. It did not take them very long to show their dominance as the Lady Wolverines jumped out to a big lead in the first set and then coasted to an easy 25-7 win. In the second set Trion stayed with Dade early but again they dominated late and took the set 15-16 and the match 2-0.

Highlights for the Lady Wolverines were Logan Frint, two aces, five digs; Zoie Smith, three aces, eight assists, five digs; Brooklyn Konrad, three kills, three blocks; Heidi Raines, five aces, four kills, four digs; Delaynee Davis, three digs.

Next up for Dade was the Lady Rebels of Fannin County. The two sets were never close, and the Lady Wolverines won set one 25-15 and set two 25-11 to take the match 2-0.

Highlights for the Lady Wolverines were Logan Frint, six kills, eight digs; Kendal Emmett, two aces, two digs; Zoie Smith, four aces, 11 assists, 13 digs; Brooklyn Konrad, five kills, two blocks, two digs; Heidi Raines, seven digs; Delaynee Davis, three aces, 12 digs.

On Thursday Dade traveled to Ridgeland and faced off against East Ridge, Tenn., in the first match and walked away with two easy wins, claiming set one 25-7 and set two 25-8 to claim the match 2-0.

Highlights for the Lady Wolverines were Logan Frint, three aces, four digs; Kendal Emmett, two assists; Zoie Smith, three assists; Jayda Belue, two digs; Brooklyn Konrad, three kills; Heidi Raines, three kills, two digs; Abby Guffey, six aces, two digs.

Dade then faced the Ridgeland Lady Panthers and they fought toe to toe for two very competitive sets. Unfortunately for the Lady Wolverines they dropped both sets, 23-25 in the first one and then 27-29 in the second to drop the match 2-0.

Highlights for the Lady Wolverines were Logan Frint, seven kills, 17 digs; Kendal Emmett, two aces, two kills, seven digs; Ella Thomas, two digs; Zoie Smith, 15 assists, 11 digs; Brooklyn Konrad, four kills; Heidi Raines, four kills, seven digs; Delaynee Davis, 27 digs; Abby Guffey, two aces.

This week the team traveled to Armuchee on Monday and then to Gordon Lee on Tuesday to face the Lady Trojans and Sonoraville.

On Thursday the Lady Wolverines will be at home against North Jackson and Red Bank, Tenn., with the first match set to begin at 5 p.m.
