Region 7-AA baseball is officially over after last weeks second round of the state championship.

In the first week of action the Wolverines and Coosa Eagles were eliminated from play by a couple of private schools in Atlanta. The Wolverines fell to Pace Academy and the Eagles fell to Lovett.

The region’s top two seeds, Pepperell, and Model, each advanced with easy wins over Washington and Columbia.

Last week would be different as Model was eliminated by Bremen, 1-0 and 7-1, while Pepperell faced Calloway, winning the first game 12-6 but then dropped the next two games, 10-0 and 7-6. Bremen and Calloway were the one and two seeds from Region 5-AA and now move on to the quarterfinals with Bremen traveling to Bleckley County and Calloway traveling to Thomasville.

Overall, it was a good year for Region 7-AA baseball after last season was cut short by COVID-19.

The Wolverines will be looking to a return trip to the state championships next year as they return all but three players from this year’s team.
