Lady Wolverines Get OT Region Win
The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine soccer team picked up a big win in Region 7-AA play on Thursday by defeating the Coosa Lady Eagles 2-1 in overtime.
DCHS started the match slow but came to life after Coosa’s goal at the 15 minute mark. The Lady Wolverines tied the match in the second half when Abby Dwyer scored the equalizer on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box.
The score remained tied until Delaney Davis picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and beat the defender to score the game–winning goal with two minutes left to play in overtime.
Strong defensive play from Bailey Davis, Samantha Trimmier, Julie Silverthome, Harli Crabtree, Karlee Welch, and a couple of great saves from goalkeeper Abbigail Tremmier kept Dade in the match after giving up the early goal.
The Lady Wolverines are now 2-2 in Region 7-AA play, fourth in Region standings.
