DCHS Dominates In Esports Opener
Esports is a relatively new sport for Dade County High School and is one of the fastest growing sports in the state. It is a GHSA sanctioned sport, with standings, playoffs, and the crowning of a state champion. Therefore, a teacher must be present, and students must be eligible to play.
Matt Sweat is the sponsor and coach of the Wolverines and they are among the top teams, advancing last year to the Elite 8.
DCHS is currently competing in the Rocket League. Two teams of three players each control cars in an arena for a game of soccer, soccer with cars!
Their opening game occurred last week versus Sequoyah High School, a game that the Wolverine students dominated, winning all three games of the best-of-five series.
The three students involved were Pravihn Patel, Zayne Cuzzort, and Jared Batton.
