18 and over baseball league coming to Dade Sports Complex

Parks and Recreation Director Stacy Stephens announced Aug. 19 that an 18 and over wood-bat baseball league will begin playing at the Dade County Sports Complex.

Stephens said that an individual from Chattanooga contacted him about using the ball fields at the Sports Complex to host 18 and over games every Sunday. The gentlemen said the fields would need to be deep enough for a fair game.

“Our fields met that criteria,” Stephens said.

Stephens said there were two doubleheaders planned for Aug. 23, with the first group of games starting at noon. However, bad weather resulted in these games being rescheduled.

The league is made up of players from Dade County, Chattanooga and Atlanta.

Stephens said that public admission is free and all concessions are open.

Stephens also said that rec soccer and football have started back. Co-ed softball is expected to start soon as well. Stephens said he is hoping to have more fast-pitch softball tournaments starting soon.

Those with questions about the 18 and over league, tournaments or sports starting back are encouraged to call Stephens at 423-290-8415.
