Dade County and Trenton native Greg Brown has been named Lady Wolverine basketball coach for the upcoming school year.

A 2000 graduate of Dade County High School, Brown will be returning after 15 years of successful coaching at three different schools. Most recently, he was the head coach at Jefferson High School where he coached for seven years compiling a record of 155-46.

He led the Lady Dragons to five region titles across three classifications, seven straight state tournament appearances, recorded four 25-win seasons and six 20-plus win seasons. In region play, he had a 74-9 mark.

Before his stint at Jefferson, he coached at Northwest Whitfield for seven years and spent one year at Tennessee Temple prior to that.

Brown was approved by the Dade County Board of Education last week to replace Katie Burrows who coached the Lady Wolverines the past two seasons. She resigned earlier this month to spend more time with her children.

Brown met with the team and parents on Wednesday, March 26 and explained what to expect in the future and how they will begin work preparing for next season immediately.

He plans to play the style of basketball that Gene Durden coached here successfully for 13 years. Brown has coached that style of play since he began his coaching career and stated they will be fun to watch and wants to bring the excitement back to Lady Wolverine basketball.

Welcome home, Greg! We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Lady Wolverine basketball.
