Dade Swept By Lions

The Dade County High School Wolverine baseball team hosted the Christian Heritage Lions on Thursday, March 27, in the first game of a three-game series.

The two teams played two scoreless innings before the Lions scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the third inning to take the lead.

Scoring a run in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth, Christian Heritage was in control as the Wolverines were still looking for their first hit of the game.

The sixth inning was scoreless, and heading into the seventh, the Lions were up 5-0. The wheels ran off for the Wolverines in the top of the seventh when Christian Heritage scored seven runs to take a commanding lead, 12-0.

Dade County managed one hit in the game by Kaiden Hubbard while Lion pitcher Sawyer Corn gave up just one hit, walked one, and struck out 14 Wolverines. He also had three hits and two RBIs in the game.

On Saturday, the Wolverines traveled to Dalton to face the Lions in a double-header to complete the three-game series.
Dade County took the lead in the top of the second inning when Jake Harris doubled, Grayson Stinnett singled, moving Harris to third. Harris later scored on a single by Evan Mims.
Christian Heritage erupted for 12 runs in the bottom of the second inning to put the game away and after scoring one in the third and two in the fourth the game was called in the fifth due to the run rule.
Mims led the Wolverines with two hits and an RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Dade took the lead in the top of the first inning, scoring one run, but the Lions responded with two in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead.
Christian Heritage never looked back as they scored two more runs in the bottom of the third and then added three in the bottom of the fourth, building a 7-1 lead and then continued to shut down the Wolverines to claim the 7-1 win and the series sweep.

Mims, Hubbard, and River McBryar accounted for the three Wolverine hits with Hubbard scoring their only run.

This week, the Wolverines hosted Gordon Central on Tuesday, will travel to Calhoun on Thursday to face the Warriors again, and then be back at home on Friday for the final game of the series. All games will start at 5:30 p.m.
