Wolverines Suffer Series Sweep By Indians

The Dade County High School Wolverine baseball team had a tough week with the Armuchee Indians in region competition last week.

The Wolverines hosted the Indians on Tuesday, March 18, and after two scoreless innings the Indians had a big third inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-0 lead.
Dade County answered with a run in the bottom of the third, but Armuchee would push across three more runs in the top of the fifth to go up 7-1.
The Wolverines tried to rally in the bottom of the fifth but could only manage one run. After two shut out innings, the Indians claim the win 7-2.
Evan Mims led the Wolverines at the plate, picking up two hits, while Kaiden Hubbard had one hit and one RBI.
Hubbard pitched 2.2 innings, gave up four runs on one hit and took the loss. Parker Hill and Ronan Rogers also pitched in the game.

On Wednesday, the Indians were back in town for the second game of the three-game series.
Dade took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Hubbard scored on an Armuchee error for a 1-0 lead.
The Indians came back with a vengeance in the second inning, scoring four runs to go up 4-1. They scored two in the third, four in the third, and five in the fifth while their pitching was shutting out the Wolverines as they claimed an easy win, 15-1.
Hill had two hits for Dade County as Gavin Wright took the loss, pitching 1.1 innings and giving up four runs. River McBryar, Kolt Owens, and Joseph Cain also pitched in the game.

The Wolverines traveled to Armuchee on Thursday, March 20, for the final game of the three-game series against the Indians.
The host Indians scored four runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead and never looked back as they went on to defeat the Wolverines 7-2 and sweep the three-game series.
Hill led DCHS with one hit and two RBI’s and also pitched 4.2 innings of relief giving up one run and five hits.

This week, the Wolverines traveled to Christian Heritage on Tuesday. Dade will host Christian Heritage on Friday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m., then will travel back to Christian Heritage on Saturday, March 29, for a 1 p.m., game.
