Gifford Inducted Into Tennessee Wesleyan’s Athletic Hall Of Fame

Trenton resident Amy Brackett Gifford was named to the Tennessee Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Feb. 8, at a ceremony held at the university in Athens, Tenn.

During the induction ceremony it was noted that Gifford transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan from Roane State Community College and for two seasons was the dominate starter in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. Her ability to control the game with her arm helped the Lady Bulldogs win the 2002 AAC Tournament Championship and the 2003 AAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship.

During the 2003 tournament championship game, Gifford took a line drive off the knee, but through her toughness, remained in the game to help give the Lady Bulldogs the championship title. In both seasons, the Lady Bulldogs qualified for the NAIA Region XII Softball Tournament.

Gifford was a two-time AAC All Conference Team member and the 2003 AAC Player of the Year. For her career, Gifford appeared in 62 games with 58 starts and compiled a record of 42 wins and 14 losses with one save. She threw 43 complete games and 10 shutouts in her 349.1 innings pitched. She collected 185 strikeouts and had a career ERA of 2.02 along with an opponent’s batting average of .202.
