The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team had a busy week as they started off on Tuesday with a trip to Dalton to face the Lady Lions of Christian Heritage.

The Lady Lions came out of the locker room ready for action and scored an amazing 28 first quarter points to take a big 15-point lead over Dade, 28-13.

The action slowed in the second quarter as Christian Heritage slowed their pace but still managed to outscore the Lady Wolverines 13 to nine in the second quarter to take a comfortable lead at the end of the first half, 41-22.

The very good Lady Lions team came out in the third quarter and put up 20 third quarter points to extend their lead to 61-33, heading into the fourth quarter.

When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Lions had defeated the Lady Wolverines 74-49.

Dade County was led by Adilynn Gross with 13 points and ten rebounds and Makensy Cooper with 13 points and five rebounds. Riley Talley scored ten points and grabbed seven rebounds.

On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines were at home hosting the Lady Indians of Armuchee.

Dade County got off to a good start, scoring eight quick points and matching the Lady Indians point for point till suddenly they could not buy a basket and finished the first quarter without scoring again and trailing the Lady Indians 15-8.

The second quarter was more of the same as Dade managed just three second quarter points and Armuchee reached a 28-11 lead.

Things improved for the Lady Wolverines in the second half as they matched the Lady Indians point for point in the third quarter, each team scoring nine points as the Lady Indians led 37-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

Dade County fought hard, trying to cut into Armuchee’s lead, but their efforts were not enough to overcome, and they fell 51-36.

Gross was the only Lady Wolverine in double figures, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the week. Cooper scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.

On Saturday night, Coosa Lady Eagles came to town and provided an extremely exciting game.

Both teams got off to a slow start and the Lady Eagles took a three-point lead in a low scoring first quarter, 10-7.

The Lady Wolverines battled back in the second quarter, outscoring Coosa 13 to 11 to trail by a single point at the end of the first half, 21-20.

As the pace of the game increased so did the intensity. The two teams battled toe to toe in the third quarter as the Lady Eagles managed to hold on to their lead as the quarter ended, 36-33.

The game was back and forth all through the fourth quarter, and with ten seconds remaining in the game, the Lady Wolverines took the lead 50-49.

The Lady Indians were not done, however, and made a shot with only a couple of seconds left to pull out the win, 51-50.

It was a disappointing loss for Dade, but they played hard throughout and never quit.
