The Dade County Wolverine basketball team traveled to Dalton last Tuesday to face a good Christian Heritage team in a region matchup.
The Lions of Christian Heritage came out firing away and built a big first quarter lead as they outscored the visiting Wolverines 27-7 for a big 20-point lead.

Dade County settled down after that first quarter and had a much better second quarter, scoring 18 points while the host scored 22 for a 49-25 lead at the end of the first half.

The hot shooting Lions would pour in 25 points in the third quarter while the Wolverines were managing just 14 as they put the game away early, leading 74-39 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was an exchange of baskets as Christian Heritage cruised to an easy 85-49 win over the Wolverines.

H. Garmany led the Wolverines with 12 points and was the only Wolverine to score in double figures in the game.

Dade-H Garmany 12, Jace Anderson 7, Cash Christiansen 6, Bryson Shrader 5, Ryan Morris 5, Win Garmany 4, Evan Avans 4, Evan Mims 3, Parker Hill 2, Braydan Jones 1.

Last Friday, the Wolverines hosted the Armuchee Indians in a big region match up before the home crowd.

Dade County would not be disappointed as they took an early lead and at the end of the first quarter were on top 21-13.

The two teams settled into the pace of the game in the second quarter, scoring 25 points each for an eight-point Wolverine lead at the end of the first half, 46-38.

Dade continued the good play in the second half and built on their first half lead, outscoring Armuchee by five in the third quarter and heading into the fourth quarter led 67-54.

While the Indians tried to cut into the Wolverine lead, they would have nothing of it, continuing their good play down the stretch and coming away with a big region win, 86-74.

The Wolverines were led by Braydan Jones with 22 points, Bryson Shrader with 17 points, Jace Anderson with 16 points, and H. Garmany with 12 points.

The Wolverines came back on Saturday night and hosted the Coosa Eagles in another region game, and while the game did not have all the scoring of the Friday night game, it was still an exciting game for the Wolverines.

Both teams may have been showing the effects of a Friday night game as they both struggled to score in the game as the Eagles took a first quarter lead, 13-9.

Dade managed to turn the table in the second quarter, outscoring Coosa 12 to six and taking the lead at the end of the first half, 21-19, in the low scoring contest.

The Wolverines seemed to find new life in the second half, scoring 17 third quarter points while the Eagles could only manage 11 and Dade’s lead grew to eight points, 38-30.

The Wolverines put the finishing touches on their second win in a row with a big fourth quarter, outscoring the Eagles 17-7 to claim the win, 55-37.

Shrader and Jones led the Wolverines with 13 points each while H. Garmany finished with 11 points.

It will be another busy week for the Wolverines as they hosted Gordon Central on Tuesday, travel to Fannin County on Wednesday and then to Dalton Academy on Friday. Get out and support the improving Wolverine basketball team.
