DCHS Seniors Will Be Recognized Before Thursday’s Wrestling Match

The Dade County wrestling reams had a busy week last week.

The Lady Wolverines wrestlers started their week off at Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe. They wrestled teams from LFO, Ringgold, Northwest Whitfield, Heritage, and Dalton Academy.

Emma Hartline went 2-1, Aly Frasier went 2-1, Miley Chambers went 2-2, Jerzee Crabtree went 2-0, Baylee Perkins went 1-0, and Maleah Wilson went 0-1 for the night.

Last Thursday, the Lady Wolverines hosted Coosa, Wilson went 1-0, Fraiser went 0-1, Hartline went 1-0, and Chambers went 1-1.

The Lady Wolverines will compete at Pepperell on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines had a busy week as well, as they hosted Coosa and Signal Mountain, Tenn. Thursday night.

Dade started off with a 78-6 region win over Coosa. The team then lost 62-9 against Signal Mountain. Several of the matches verses Signal Mountain had controversial endings, including the heavyweight match where Gabrial Yarbrough was called for an illegal slam, and after Signal’s coach would not allow his wrestler to continue, Yarbrough was given his first loss of the season.

On Saturday, Dade traveled to Armuchee to compete in the Garvin Edwards Invitational. The Wolverines performed well and finished fourth as a team. Jude Evearitt, Anderson Windsor, and Yarbrough all won first place in their weight class. Jordan Castellanos finished second after a knee injury hampered him in the finals. Jett Shavers finished fourth in his weight class. Brody Daniels, Kent Tajima, Gideon Moore, and Rylan Whitehurts all came within one match of placing.

The Wolverines wrestled at LaFayette on Tuesday and will host Marion County, Tenn., North Sand Mountain, and Chattooga on Thursday. Wrestling will start at 5:30.

Dade County will honor all their senior wrestlers before the opening match of the night.
