Lady Wolverines Drop Region Opener Amid Shooting Woes

The Lady Wolverines fell to the Lady Trojans 64-35 in the first region game of the season. They will be back in action at home on Friday when they host Christian Heritage at 6 p.

The Dade County Lady Wolverine basketball team traveled to Gordon Lee on Tuesday, Dec. 3, for the team’s first region game of the season.
Dade County’s shooting woes continued as they struggled to score and at the end of the first quarter the Lady Trojans had built a 13 point lead, 18-5.

While Gordon Lee’s hot streak had cooled down, the Lady Wolverines shot a little better but the score at the end of the first half was 29-14 Lady Trojans.

Dade County scored in single digits in the third quarter as will, while the Lady Trojans added to their lead outscoring the visiting Lady Wolverines 12-8 to lead 41-22.

Dade had their best scoring quarter of the game in the fourth quarter, 13 points, but so did the Lady Trojans, 23 points, as they claimed an easy 64-35 win.

Senior Adilynn Gross led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points and seven rebounds while Morgan Edwards scored seven points and had four rebounds.

The Lady Wolverines made just two of 20 three-point attempts and just nine of 31 two-point attempts in the game. They did manage to hit 11 of 18 free throw attempts for 61.1%.

The Lady Wolverines traveled to Coahulla Creek on Tuesday and will be at home on Friday, Dec. 13, when they host Christian Heritage in a region game. The varsity will tip-off at 6 p.m.
