Wolverines Face Trojans In First Round Of Playoffs

The Dade County High School Wolverine football team will head south for the first round of the football playoff this week when traveling to Barnesville face the Trojans.
The Wolverines will be making their fourth playoff appearance in a row.
Dade County, 4-6, will be facing the 8-2 Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday looking to advance to round two next week.
The Trojans are a run orientated team, averaging 199.5 yards per game on the ground while averaging just 14.3 yards per game passing.
The Wolverines are more balanced, averaging 184.4 yards per game on the ground while averaging 141.6 yards per game passing.
Dade averages 326 yards per game in total offense while the Trojans average 213.8 yards per game. The Wolverines averaged 22.9 points per game while the Trojans averaged 29.7 points per game.
On paper, at least, this looks like a good match up for the Wolverines as they make the long trip to Barnesville on Friday.
Region 7 put six teams in the playoffs this year with Fannin County taking the top spot. They will host Vidalia (team 32) on Friday. The
Wolverines are team 24 and face Lamar County (team nine); Chattooga County (team 20) travels to Dodge County (team 13); Coosa (team 29) travels to Worth County (team four); Gordon Central (team 31) travels to Dublin (team two); and Gordon Lee (team 14) host Elbert County (team 19).
The playoff system for Class A Division 1 this year uses a point system to rank teams after all the private schools are taken out. The private schools have their own playoff and state championship this year. As a result, six of the seven schools in Region 7 made the playoffs.
