Lady Wolverines Battle To The End To Secure Win Over Lady Bulldogs

Photo by Eddy Gifford – Riley Overdear returns a volley in recent action for the Lady Wolverine volleyball team. They will be at home for matches with Darlington and Coahulla Creek on Thursday afternoon.
The Dade County Lady Wolverine volleyball team traveled to Trion High School on Tuesday, Sept. 10 to face the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Wolverines took the first set in a hard-fought battle with the final score of 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs bounced back in the second set taking the long, hard-fought set 27-29 to even the match.
In the third and final set, the Lady Wolverines rebounded to take another hard-fought set by the final score of 15-13 to claim the match 2-1.
Riley Overdear had a big day with three aces, five kills, four assists, and five digs. Caroline Bell had ten kills and five digs while Alyson Jenkins had 11 digs. Myah York had three aces, and Taylor Shrader had five digs.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Lady Wolverines hosted Chattooga and Coahulla Creek.
First up for Dade County was the Chattooga Lady Indians. It was a hard-fought three set match with the Lady Wolverines taking the first set 25-22 but dropping the second set 30-32 (you must win by two points) and dropping the tie-braker 7-15 to drop the match 1-2.
Jenkins led the Lady Wolverines with 21 digs and three assists while Azairah Reed had 20 assists and nine digs. Bell had a big day as well with ten digs, nine kills, and four aces, while York had eight kills.
Next up was Coahulla Creek, and Dade struggled after the tough match with the Lady Indians of Chattooga. Coahulla Creek won the match in two sets, 15-25 and 16-25.
Reed led the Lady Wolverines with 11 assists and five digs, while Bell had two aces, nine kills and four digs; Jenkins had one assist, and five digs and Overdear had five digs.
This week, Dade traveled to Gordon Lee and Oakwood Christian on Tuesday and will host Darlington and Coahulla Creek on Thursday and 5 and 7 p.m.
