DCHS Volleyball Gets Win Over Marion County, Drops Four Matches

Photo by Eddy Gifford – Alyson Jenkins returned a serve in action at home last week. The Lady Wolverines volleyball team saw lots of action last week as the team had five matches. You can see the Lady Wolverine play on Thursday when they host Model and Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe beginning at 5 p.m.

The Dade County Lady Wolverine volleyball team opened play last week by traveling to Marion County, Tenn., to take on the Lady Warriors and came away with a big win, 4-1.

Dade County won the first three sets 25-24, 25-19, and 25-16 before dropping the fourth set 22-25 and then coming back and winning the fifth set 15-1.

Azairah Reed led the Lady Wolverines with 20 digs and 32 assists, while Alyson Jenkins was right behind with 17 digs. Caroline Bell had 28 kills and a pair of aces.

Armuchee was next up for the Lady Wolverines, and Dade dropped two sets to the Lady Indians, 14-25 and 16-25.

Bell had 12 kills while Reed had 13 assists and eight digs.

The Lady Wolverines then faced Rockmart and dropped the match in two sets, 10-25 and 20-25.

Reed had ten assists and eight digs while Jenkins had nine digs and Bell had five kills.

Next up for Dade County was Fannin County. The Lady Wolverines dropped that match 2-1, losing the first set 18-25, rallying in the second set to win 25-22, then dropping the third set 11-15.

Riley Overdear had three aces and seven digs, while Bell had 11 kills and eight digs. Reed had 19 assists.

The final match of the week was against Ringgold, and Dade dropped the match in two sets, 25-27 and 17-25.

Jenkins had 11 digs while Reed had 14 assists and five digs and Caroline Reed had six kills and eight digs.

This week, the Lady Wolverines will host Model and Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe on Sept. 5 for their only match of the week.
