Dade Dominates On The Softball Field

The Dade County High School Lady Wolverine softball team hosted Gordon Central on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the first region game of the season and they completely destroyed the visitors from Calhoun.

Dade scored six runs in the first inning and then plated nine more in the bottom of the second inning to take a 15-0 lead after two innings of plays.

Lexi Lawson completed a perfect three innings with nine strikeouts, no hits, and no walks, and the game was called on the run rule with the Wolverines claiming the 15-0 win.

Lawson and Riley Talley had three hits and four RBI’s each to lead the offense that had 12 hits in two innings and scored 15 runs.

On Thursday, Aug. 22, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Fannin County for a big region game.

The Lady Wolverines got on the board with a run in the first inning to take the early lead, 1-0 and it would remain that way until the bottom of the fourth inning when the host scored their first run of the game to tie it at 1-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, Dade County pushed across two runs to take the lead again, 3-1 and the strong pitching by Lawson shut out Fannin the rest of the way and the Lady Wolverines claimed a big road victory 3-1.

Isabell White led DCHS with two hits while Lawson and Adilynn Gross had a hit and RBI each.

Lawson picked up the win pitching seven innings giving up two hits, one run, walking one and striking out nine.

This week, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Chattooga on Tuesday to face the Lady Indians and will host Armuchee on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
