The Dade County High School Wolverine football team wrapped up the last couple of weeks of summer practice heading into acclimation week.

Coach Jeff Poston stated, “We competed well at Heard County in a padded camp. We scrimmaged Heard, Villa Rica, and Lagrange. We moved the ball well and played extremely physical.

“We are looking forward to getting Demetrius Walker back when we start padded practice. He separated his shoulder the first week of July diving for a ball, so we have been extremely careful with him.

“Braden Jones has emerged as an extremely talented offensive player. Carter Christiansen and Evan Avans have emerged as our leaders.

“We competed well at the 7 on 7 as well, even though we were missing some kids due to vacation,” coach Poston concluded.

The season gets started with a scrimmage at Marion County on Aug. 9 when they face Marion County and Howard. The first regular season game will be at home on Friday, Aug. 16 against the Ringgold Tigers in a non-region game.
