Missing Juvenile Found In Arkansas
From the Dade County Sheriff’s Office:
On the morning of June 9, Dade County deputies received a call to Sand Mountain in regards to a missing juvenile. After a brief investigation, it was found that the 15-year-old female had been picked up during the night by a male subject she had been communicating with on the Internet.
Dade County Road Patrol officers, Dade County detectives, and Dade County 911 operators worked diligently to try to locate the two subjects who were reportedly heading to Oklahoma.
After coordinating with Arkansas and Oklahoma Law Enforcement authorities, the male and female were located in a vehicle along I-40, just outside Little Rock, Ark. Both subjects were taken into custody by Arkansas authorities. The female was turned over to her parents, and the male subject is being held on one charge of Felony Interstate Interference with Custody (O.C.G.A. 16-5-45).
Sheriff Ray Cross said, “I want to personally thank all the agencies involved in getting this young lady back to her family. As a parent, I can only imagine the fear going through the young lady’s family throughout this whole ordeal. With that being said, let it be known that if you come to Dade County and remove a child without their parents’ permission, we will find you, and we will prosecute you!”
As of press time, the male subject hadn’t been extradited to Georgia, and DCSO investigators hadn’t been able to talk to him yet, so DCSO could not release any further information about the suspect.
