ANGIE NELSON

Sabrina Angela “Angie” Nelson, 68, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2025.

Born Feb. 28, 1957, Angie was the daughter of the late Milton “Edgie” and Margaret Gray Dotson. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Angie lived a life marked by love and quiet strength. She worked for many years as a surgical technician at Erlanger Hospital. She found great joy in tending to her flowers and keeping a clean, welcoming home. However, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold Nelson; son, Steven Hayes; grandchildren, P.J. (Satori) Hayes, Angela Hayes, Forrest Derryberry, Courtney Sims, Asher Derryberry, Aeegan Nelson, and Keeley Nelson; great-granddaughter, Addison Hayes; sisters, Diane White, Rhonda Holland, Denise Johnson, and Alicia Simpson; her brother, Daniel Edward Mooney.

Funeral services were Monday, May 5, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Hawkins Cemetery.

COY NEWTON

Coy Lee Newton, 89, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Born Feb. 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Herman and Mildred Newton. Coy cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He had a passion for fishing and had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met, treating all as friends. His children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and those he embraced as family were the center of his world.

In addition to his parents, Coy was preceded in death by his \wife, Brenda Newton; children, Ashley, Thomas, Bobby, and Jessie; grandchildren, Makayla, Chase, and Zachery; siblings, Dimple Jo Mullins, Robert Newton and Kathy Newton.

Survivors include his children, Kim, Cheryl, Donnie, and Patrick Newton; grandchildren, Michael (Taylor) Newton, Tyler (Kristin) Hicks, Collen, Chevy, Summer, Tyler, Chad, Leeandra, Raelee, Stephanie, and Crystal; 22 great-grandchildren and looked forward to welcoming one more great-grandson, Raynes Coy Newton.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 3, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Jason Blake officiating. Interment was at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Newton, Tyler Hicks, Chevy Newton, Jimmy Sutton, Bryan Sutton, and Chris Sutton.

The family would also like to extend sincere gratitude to Hearth Hospice for their compassionate care; to special friend, Mrs. Finley for her companionship, and to Tyler and Kristin for their devotion to their Papaw.

STEVE STEPHENSON

Billy David “Steve” Stephenson, 69, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Steve was born Nov. 23, 1955, to Billy Edward Stephenson and Laverne Dobbins Stephenson and has resided in the Flat Rock community for several years. Steve was a hard worker and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors working on his farm, taking care of his cows and his dog. He also enjoyed working in his shop, where he built trailers and repaired his tractors.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Billy Edward Stephenson.

Survivors include his daughter, Brandie (Dale) Hamlen; mother, Laverne Stephenson; granddaughter, Kaylen Hamlen.

Funeral services were Friday, May 2, at the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Jimmy Hixson and Scott Gudger officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Bryant, Ala.

BETTY WALLIN

Betty Jean Riddle Wallin, 93, of Rising Fawn, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Mrs. Wallin was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Hixson, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Bob” Wallin; son, John F. Wallin; parents, William M. and Elsie Riddle; sisters, Virginia Steele, Marie Smith, and Barbara Smith; brothers, Bill and Ernie Riddle.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Wallin; granddaughter, Leah (Ryan) Meulemans; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Wheeler Wallin (Bill) Ware; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, May 5, at noon in the funeral home chapel with Minister Mitchell Smith officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
