DAVID BROWN

David Brown, 65, of Trenton, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025.

He was a devoted brother, husband, father, and “Big Daddy.” He spent the last 25 years of his life as the pastor of two local churches, Ascalon Baptist Church and Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting his grandkids in all their activities. He loved the Tennessee Volunteers, the Atlanta Braves, and he never met a stranger.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Trenton.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Pell Brown; father, James William (Bill) Brown; mother Mary Lou (Jo) Brown Wilkie; and grandson Landon Scott Hill.

Survivors include his children; Greg (Carrie) Brown of Jefferson; Katie (Jeremy) Hill of Trenton, and Colton (Rachel) Brown of Athens, Tenn.; sister, Martha (Danny) Rowell of Trenton; grandchildren, Parker Hill, Rylee Brown, Easton Hill, Willow Brown, Carden Brown, Wyatt Brown, and Madelyn Brown; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 12, from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, March 13, from 10-11 a.m., at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

LYNN CROCKER

James Lynn Crocker, 64, of Bryant, Ala., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Lynn never met a stranger and was known for his welcoming nature. He enjoyed engaging in conversation and sharing laughter with everyone he encountered. He was an avid deer hunter, a devoted Alabama fan, and his faith in Christianity was an important aspect of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Hud” and Anna Lou Crocker; sister, Deborah LeCroy; and grandparents, Clara and Grover Crocker.

Survivors include his daughters, Anna Brazzle and Ashley Crocker; granddaughters, Emma Loua Brazzle and Scotlyn Jane Davis; half-brother, Josh Garrison; aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

A funeral service is today, March 12, at 2 p.m. ET, in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Brad Talley, Brother Chris Talley, and Brother Brad Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home today from noon until the hour of the service.

LINDA FLOYD

Linda Gayle Floyd, 64, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Linda was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Her deep Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she expressed her devotion through her beautiful singing voice, uplifting many with her praises.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Denver Floyd; mother, Barbara Hines; step-father, Don Hines; and sister, Pam Hauck.

She is survived by her son, Rock (Kindora) Floyd; brother, Tony Floyd; grandchildren, Nolan and Mirah Floyd.

GLENDA MARLER

Glenda Carol Marler, 73, of Trenton, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Glenda was born Dec. 6, 1951, to the late Monroe and Christine Marrow Powell in Rising Fawn. Glenda was a devoted gardener, passionate about planting and nurturing a variety of plants. She was a member of Cave Springs Methodist Church. Glenda enjoyed reading and cooking, and the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Wayne Powell, Jackie Morgan, Linda Ann Blevins, and Brenda Hatmaker.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie (Jerome) Millican and Adrian (Carla) Castleberry; sisters Wanda (Bobby) Williams and Patsy (Smitty) Gatlin; grandchildren, Madison (Davis) Brown, Justin Castleberry, Kailyn “KK” Castleberry, and Peyton Castleberry.

A graveside service was Thursday, March 6, at Miller Cemetery in Rising Fawn with Pastor Chris Hagler officiating.

JORDAN PHILLIPS

Jordan “Jo” Zoe Phillips, 27, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Huntsville, Ala., after a short illness.

Jo cherished her role as a mother, deeply loving her daughter, Norah Phillips. Her passion for life extended beyond her family; she embraced the world through her love for reading and her affinity for animals. Her vibrant personality and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Norah Phillips; parents, Royce and Jada Case; brothers, Joey (Blye) Case, Jacob (Alyx) Case, and D.J. Case; sister, Jacquelyn (Mikel) Garcia; grandparents, Paul and Joan Holmes; special friend, Madison Case; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Saturday, March 8, at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

SANDRA STEPHENS

Sandra Maxine Ward Stephans, 85, of Maggie Valley, N.C., passed away Monday, March 3, 2025.

Sandra was born on March 25, 1939, in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Dempsy C. and Susie Mae Ward. She graduated from Jackson Memorial Hospital and pursued a lifelong career in nursing. She later moved to Maggie Valley, N.C., where she retired after 50 years of dedicated service. Sandra was a loving mother, sister, and aunt. However, her favorite title was “Nanee,” the name her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her. She enjoyed baking, often enlisting her children and grandchildren to help smash nuts and mix ingredients in her “big blue bowl” and “big ugly pan.”

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Dempsy and Susie Ward; brother-in-love, James H. Vincent.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Stephans, Lori Stephans, Michael (Kelly) Stephans, and Joseph (Margie) Stephans; sister, Brenda Vincent; nephew, Jimmy (Marian) Vincent; grandchildren: Zakery (Tammie) Noland, Jessica “Susie” (Josh) Westmoreland, Daniel (Kirsten) Hambleton, Christyn (Curtis) Lankster, Jordyn Atwood, Jace (Emily) Atwood, and Nick, Ben, and Jacob Stephans; great-grandchildren, Jaxyn, Kyle, Damon, Ivan, Josslyn, Tatum, and Maggie.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately with the family at a later date in Maggie Valley, N.C.

ELIZABETH STREET

Elizabeth Marie Wallen Street, 95, of Wildwood, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025.

Born Dec. 18, 1929, Elizabeth dedicated her life to her family and community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who found joy in serving others. Throughout the years, she was an active volunteer at her church and local schools and a committed member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), Girl Scouts, and many other community organizations. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Joe C. “Pete” Wallen and Gertie Lee Smith Wallen; her husband, Donald Edward Street; son, Philip Edward Street, and brother Johnny C. Wallen

Survivors include her children, Donna M. Street of Trenton; Kate (Mike) Cammack of Norcross; and Tracy Street of Wildwood; daughter-in-law, Sherry Street of Chattanooga, Tenn.; granddaughters, Jordan (Dustin) Street Powell and Caroline Cammack; step-grandson, Corey Cresswell; sister, Ruth Wallen Moore; sisters-in-law, Virginia Blevins Wallen and Pat Street; nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical personnel at Hearth Hospice for their compassionate care during the last year of her life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, March 12, in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home, with Rev. Reece Fauscett and Chaplain Steven Moore officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.mn., at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton, beginning at 10 a.m., prior to the service.

DEMPLE WILLIAMS

Demple Inez Williams, 79, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025.

Demple was born in Trenton on Aug. 9, 1945, to the late Rinzy and Azalee Hartline and has resided in the Higdon, Ala., community of Sand Mountain for many years. She loved to travel, most notably to the Smokey Mountains. For many years, she worked at Shell Mart and enjoyed countless conversations with customers from all over the area.

In addition to her parents, Demple is also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Williams; siblings, Junie, David, Dale, Kenneth, Eddie, Nolan, Jerry, Jimmy, Lamar and Lisa.

Survivors include her son, Dale (Christina) Williams; sisters, Wilma Massengale, Bertha McBryar and LaMerle Howard; brother, Clayton Hartline.

Graveside services were Sunday, March 2, at Gib Dock Stephens Cemetery with Mike Phillips officiating.
