VERNA BAILEY
Verna Downer Bailey, 80, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2024.
Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Ft. Payne, Ala., to the late Aubrey Lewis and Lillian Estelle Pell Downer and was a 1962 graduate of Davis High School. She attended the Tiftonia Holiness Church and enjoyed sewing, needlework, traveling and photography.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elvin and Alfred Downer.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Glenn Charles Bailey; son, Chuck Bailey (Giorgi Minasovi) of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Glenda (Bernard) Peek of Lookout Mountain, Phyllis McClure of Trenton, and Brenda Tinker of Guntersville, Ala.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bailey were Friday, Dec. 6, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Troy Lawson officiating. Interment was Monday, Dec. 9th at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

MARK MAHATHY
John Mark Mahathy, 69, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away peacefully at home Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
Mark had a deep love for the Lord and dedicated himself to preaching, sharing his faith through his Sunday morning broadcasts on radio station WEPG–104.9 The River in South Pittsburg, Tenn. In addition to his ministry, he enjoyed flea marketing, traveling, and cooking, which brought joy to those around him.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Albert O’Neal and Getrude Beatrice Mahathy; wife, Virginia Mahathy.
Survivors include his wife of four years, Jennifer McBryar Mahathy; brother, Mike (Kathy) Mahathy; step-children, Michael (Peggy) James, Bobby Gene Webb, Margaret Ann Webb, Seth Curtis, and Isaac Curtis; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 9, in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Bro. David Berry and Bro. David Willman officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
