CLAUDE BEATTY

Claude Lee Beatty, 69, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Nov.13, 2024.

He was born in Hayti, Mo., on Nov. 7, 1955 to the late Auburn and Willie Sue Dillard Beatty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Phil Beatty, Jeff Beatty, Mark McCurry and Bobby McCurry.

Survivors include his daughters, Christy and Stephanie Beatty, Trenton, and Alix Bethany Cedars, Sylvania, Ala.; brothers, Lloyd (Alice) Beatty, Ft. Payne, Ala., and Johnny (Candy) McCurry, Gallant, Ala.; aunts, Inez Dunn, Birmingham, Ala., Dean Giordano, Dyer, Ind., Marilyn Reneman, Steele, Ala., and Joyce Tripp, Parsonville, Md.; grandchildren, Jayla Beatty, Trenton, Gage and Colten Haggard, Higdon, Ala., and Matthew Cedar, Sylvania, Ala.; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins.

A special thanks is extended to all of Claude’s friends for the help extended when needed.

DR. JIM GEORGE

Dr. Jim George, 85, of the New Salem Community of Lookout Mountain, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024.

Dr. George was a 1957 graduate of Sylvania High School and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Marietta in 1978. He owned and operated the Dade County Chiropractic Center in Trenton for 32 years, retiring to his farm in 2011. Dr. George loved his work by caring for others and giving back to his community. He especially loved the outdoors, gardening, working in the yard, and taking care of his horses, goats and dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lydia Murdock George; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Georgianna (Mike) Pollock of Rising Fawn; brother, David George; nieces and nephews.

A visitation to celebrate the life of Dr. George was Sunday, Nov. 24 at Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory, Trenton.

DAVID HAMLIN

David Edwin Hamlin, 70, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

  David was born on March 2, 1954, in Green Cove Springs, Fla., to Lillian Inez Noble and John Edwin Hamlin. He had a long and fulfilling career, dedicating many years to the agricultural sector followed by a successful tenure in retail sales. He attended Edgewood Baptist Church in Trenton.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Lora Riddle.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Byrnina Mary Roberts; daughter, Marsha Hamlin; siblings, Johnna Jean Mathews of Lake Butler, Fla.; Sharon Lee Fowler of Killen, Ala., and Diana Walz, Michael Eugene Hamlin, and Richard Keith Hamlin, all of Leesburg, Fla.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Brother Jim Lilley officiating. Interment was at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

BONNIE JEFFERY

Bonnie Maxine Jeffery, 89, of Trenton, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.

 Bonnie was a cherished member of the community, known for her sweet demeanor and independence. For several years, she served as the City Clerk for the Trenton City Government. Bonnie often baked and cooked for those in need. She was a devoted member of Trenton First Baptist Church.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Verda Raines; husband, Sam R. Jeffery; son, Sam W. Jeffery; son-in-law, Donald Clark; siblings, James, Pearl, Lilly, Ruth, Minnie, and Lucille.

Survivors include her daughter, Audrey; grandsons, Tanner (Brandi) and Sawyer (Brandy) Clark; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Karrigan, Cole, Collins, and Ridge Clark.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Eddie Cantrell officiating. Interment was at Payne Cemetery.

ROGER NASH

Roger Lewis Nash, 61, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Wednesdat, Nov. 20, 2024, after a six-year battle with ling cancer.

Roger served in the United States Coast Guard and was a very talented musician who played the guitar, wrote music, and even had his own recording studio. He also had an interest in computers, which served as a favorite hobby for him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy L. Nash.

Survivors include his children, Jebb Carrier and Shay (Isaac) Hamby; grandchildren, Karli and Karter Hamby; mother, Mary Ann Nash; sister, Regina (Eddie) Richey; niece, Rebekah Richey; uncle, Billy Ray Reeves; other aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 23, in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Brother Brad Bridges officiating.

EDWIN PACE, JR.

Edwin Stephen Pace Jr, 95, of Rogersville, Tenn., passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ed was born in Trenton on June 29, 1929. He was an active member of Rogersville First United Methodist Church where he developed a tremendous mind in Bible knowledge and enjoyed studying each day. He was active in the church youth program, as well as community youth. After attending Chattanooga High School, Edwin graduated from Carson Newman College with a degree in chemistry. While studying, he worked on cancer research with Dr. Bonner and lettered on the tennis team. Ed met and married his wife Jean, in Paducah, Ky., and later moved to Rogersville. He retired as a chemist from TVA following 37 years of service. He was active in his community, having served on the Rogersville Election and Water Committees. During the 70s, Edwin wrote for The Rogersville Review and The Kingsport Times, covering high school basketball and football.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and O’Greeta, and sister Joyce Fuller (Ray).

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Jean; sons, Steve Pace (Linda) and Stan Pace (Kim), all of Kingsport, Tenn.; grandsons, Dr. Tyler Pace (Betsy) of Greenville, S.C., and Jonathan Asher of New York; granddaughter, Hailey Pace VanNoy of Kingsport, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren, Asher, Adelaide, Gwen, Caty Pace, Harper and Everly VanNoy; brother, Charles Pace; sister Judy Forester (Bob), of Dalton.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 18, at Rogersville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Price officiating. Interment was at McKinney Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom Bundy, Ben Cowan, Tom Crittenden, Larry Pearce, Wes Wilson, and Gabe VanNoy.

BETTY SLOAN

Betty Lou Sloan, 97, of Rome, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2024.

She was the owner and operator of Betty Lou’s Beauty Shop in Rome for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace D. Sloan; sons, Lamar Sloan and Ronnie Sloan; daughter, Gail LaPann; five brothers.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Jenna Reeder, Summer Hanchey, Krissy Henley, and Brooke Sloan; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome.

RUTH WADE

Ruth Dobbins Wade, 90, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.

Ruth was a kind and loving individual who cherished her family deeply. Ruth worked for many years at Dobbins Supermarket. She also taught school at Mount Olive Elementary. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ruby Dobbins; husband, James A. Wade; sister, June Cagle; brother, Leo Dobbins.

Survivors include her sons, Dale (Billie) Wade and Alan (Ann) Wade; daughters, Christi (Anthony) Atchley and Melody (Marc) Skinner; sisters, Laverne Stephenson, Joyce Atchley, Glenda Ginn, and Delray Wright; brothers, Roy and Troy Dobbins; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Brother Jim Hixon officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
