Lamar Lowery Remembered For Service On Dade County Commission

Lamar Lowery

Tommy Lamar Lowery, who served as District One commissioner on the Dade County Board of Commissioners, passed away on Nov. 5. All who knew him will remember his kindness, love, and willingness to listen to everyone’s viewpoint.

Born on May 4, 1959, to Tommy A. Lowery and the late Mary Ann Foster Lowery, he was an electrician at Hutcheson Medical Center for many years, and his interest in emergency services carried over into his time with the Dade County Commission. He was a firm supporter of our fire departments and emergency services.

Of the five forms of county government that Dade has had, Lowery was part of four—all but the sole commissioner form.

Lowery is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Derrick (Christina) Lowery and Misty (Brevin) Cameron; his father, Tommy (Eileen) Lowery; his sister, Karen (Lamar) Hulvey; and his grandchildren.
