JACKIE GOSSET
Allen Jackson “Jackie” Gossett Sr., 82, from the Lookout Valley community in Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, following a 10 year battle with cancer.
Jackie was a son of the Valley, a Wauhatchie Warrior, a Purple Pounder, a Volunteer, a Sixth Fleet Sailor, a United Steelworker and to the children at the Nazarene Day Care, simply, Mr. Jackie. But most importantly a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a humble servant of his Lord. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served aboard ‘Rosie’, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was also a dedicated employee of Mueller Company of Chattanooga for 43 years.
Jackie was preceded in death by his wife, Zelpha Gray Gossett; siblings, Wilburn Gossett, Peggy Nicholson, and Charles Gossett.
Survivors include his sons, Allen (Tracey) Gossett Jr., and Jason Robert (Sonja) Gossett; grandchildren, Evan (Erika) Gossett, Holden Gossett, Alliana (Hunter) Martin, and Liam Gossett; great-grandsons, Jackson McCoy and Grayson Lane Gossett; extended family members.
A funeral service was Tuesday, July 30, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. A graveside service was at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

HILLARD WALL
Hillard Vester Wall Sr., 92, of the New Salem community of Lookout Mountain, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024.
Born Nov. 8, 1931, Hillard was the youngest child of the late William and Nora Jane Bodenhammer Wall. He was a skilled carpenter renowned for constructing numerous custom homes in the area. Hillard’s dedication extended beyond his profession as he was a steadfast member of the New Salem Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freida Moore Wall; son, Junior Wall; several siblings.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Hillary (Joe) Guinn, Melia (Chad) Reeves, and Lexi Wall; great-grandchildren, Presley, Blake, and River; daughter-in-law, Cindy McCallie; nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial service was held on Monday, July 29, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Reece Fauscett officiating.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Dade Health and Rehab for the compassionate care they provided during his final days.
