BRENDA HOLMES

Brenda Sue Holmes, 81, of Trenton, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024.

Brenda cherished spending time with her family, who held a special place in her heart. Known for her sharp wit and sense of humor, she found joy in laughter. Her hobbies included fishing, quilting, gardening, camping, cooking, and playing games like bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Almer and Dimple Smith Godwin; and husband, Derace Lamar Holmes.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Floyd, Jeff (Anne) Mitchell, and Greg (Sandra) Mitchell; sisters, Joyce (Emmery) Brown, Shirley McDaniel, and Kathy West; brothers, Jimmy (Judy) Godwin and Jerry (Susan) Godwin; step-children, Danny (Tammy) Holmes, Caleb (Ashlyn) Holmes, Salina (Mark) Gill, and Randy (Angie) Mitchell; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 17, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Chaplain Steve Moore officiating.  Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Bryant, Ala.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hearth Hospice and the NSICU staff at Memorial for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Joyce Brown and Kathy West for their unwavering love and support during this difficult time.
