ERIC CARTER
Eric Carter, 47, of Rising Fawn, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024.
A loving husband and father, Eric was employed as an on the road driver for McKee Foods for almost 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, accomplished hunter, fisherman, and diver, and was a friend to everyone he met.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, James Carter; grandparents, uncles and aunts.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Kerri Carter; sons, Jackson (Rebekah), Brody, and Ty Carter; grandson, Samuel Carter; mother, Sandra Carter (Sonny Terrell); father-in-law, Michael (Peggy) Bray; sister, Stephanie (Alex) Ward; brother, Shawn (Christine) Carter; brother-in-law, Jeff (Jennifer) Bray; nieces and nephews, Braxton, Mason, and Addison Bray, Kent, Anne, and Austin Carter; friend and co-driver, Junior King; cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A celebration of life was Monday, May 27, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Billy Wallace officiating.

JOEL EASTMAN
Joel E. Eastman, 58, formerly of Trenton, passed away Dec. 10, 2023, in Kansas City, Mo.
Joel was born on April 8, 1965, to George and Sally Ann Eastman. He was one of the sweetest and kindest people anyone could meet. He would do anything for anyone, especially his family whom he loved to the ends of the earth. In addition to his parents,
Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, George Eastman; sister, Kelly Smith; and nephews, Timothy and Jeremy.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Eastman; mother, Sally Ann Eastman; son, Robert (Hannah) Eastman; grandsons, Kase, Knox, and Rhyder Eastman; sisters, Marie Jackson, Tammy Crane, Helen Jackson, Georgia Lilly, and Sally Vogelmeier; brothers, Tim Brewster, Jim Eastman, and Hap Eastman; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, June 8, at 6 p.m. CST at the home of his brother at 4477 County Road 611, Valley Head, Ala. His brother-in-law, Rev. John Smith, will officiate.

FRANCES HOLDER
Frances Altheia Holder, 94, of Hixson, Tenn., passed away Monday, June 3, 2024.
Mrs. Holder was born on April 16, 1930, to the late Ancil and Maebell Campbell Brock in Pikeville, Tenn. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hixson, Tenn., and was employed as a supervisor with Kay’s Kastle and was a self-employed caregiver for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Holder; son, Roger Andrew Holder; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Clark Stanley (Misty) Holder and Doug Holder (Karen Johnson); grandsons, Colby (Heather) Holder and Chase (Ashley) Holder; great-grandson, Ace Holder; great-granddaughters, Aubree, Alyssa, and Addison Holder; brother, Bill Brock; sister, Patsy Brock; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Zachary Ditmar officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens, Ringgold.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 5, from 3–8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory.

MICHAEL HOLLAND
Michael Wayne Holland, 74, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Wayne was born April 21, 1950, to the late Marvin and Billie Ellis Holland. He was musically talented and enjoyed playing the guitar, trumpet and singing gospel hymns. Wayne enjoyed riding motorcycles, tinkering with antique cars, and cooking out. Most of all, Wayne loved his family and loved to spend time with them. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughters, Vickie and April Michelle Holland; siblings, Steve Holland and Deborah Boss.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Holland; son, Billy (Nikole) Holland; daughter, Jennifer (Roy) Gentry; brother, David (Lois) Holland; sisters, Tina Earp, Rhonda Crabtree, and Sheila Shipley; grandchildren, Victoria and Jaxon Johnson, Graham, August, and Aurora Holland; extended family members.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Gentry and Pastor Roy Gamble officiating. Interment will be at Smith Cemetery in Flat Rock, Ala.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 5, from 4–8 p.m., and on Thursday from 11 a.m., until the service hour.

JAMES HOWARD
James “Jimmy” Edward Howard, 73, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Born Aug. 22, 1950, to the late William and Ada Gray Howard, family was the cornerstone of Jimmy’s life. His greatest joy was spending precious moments with his loved ones, especially watching his grandchildren play sports. Additionally, he enjoyed fishing and cheering for Alabama football.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Allen, Ricky, and Charles Howard; sister, Patsy Ann Ledford.
Survivors include his wife, LaMerle Howard; daughter, Amanda Counts; brother, Windell (Helen) Howard; sisters, Willie Mae Bishop and Teresa Michaels; grandchildren, Eric (Kayleigh) Counts, Kami Counts, and Zack Counts; great-grandchildren, Iris Counts and Ivy Counts; bonus grandchildren, Hallie Hartline, Rusty Hartline, and Bailey Witt; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 4, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Gib Dock Cemetery.

JULIE SCOTT
Julie M. Scott, 79, of Trenton, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024.
Julie was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Guntersville, Ala., to the late Other and Vollie Scott. She was a member of the Trenton Free Holiness Church and retired from the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., as an Executive Secretary following 40 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Collis and Edward Scott; sister, Opal Rice.
Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Fortner of Trenton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 28, at the Trenton Free Holiness Church with Rev. Jimmy Ferguson and Rev. Erik Scott officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Albertville, Ala.

CHARLES STAKELY
Charles Julian Stakely, of Rising Fawn, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and veteran. He was born in Bradley County, Tenn., to John Howard and Ocie Mae Watson Stakely. Mr. Stakely served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964. He went on to establish a successful construction business in North Georgia, where he dedicated 40 years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howard and Ocie Mae Watson Stakely; brothers, Raymond E. Stakely and James L. Stakely; brother-in-laws, James Davis and Raymond (Joe) J. McMahan; sister-in-laws, Beverly J. Stakely and Shirley M. Stakely; and daughter-in-law Mary R. Stakely.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce G. Stakely; son, Timothy D. Stakely; daughters, Carol L. Stakely-Staggs (Chris) and Trena S. Kloss (Scott); grandchildren, Corey N. Stakely-Staggs (Lorelei), Carson E. Stakely-Staggs, Kyler L. Kloss, Jaxon E. Kloss, Carter S. Stepanich, and Gianna R. Stepanich; brothers and sisters, Melgena S. Davis, Robert C. (Margaret) Stakely, Melvin (Darlene) Stakely, Glenda S. DeFriese, Vivian S. McMahan, and Mitchell H. Stakely; mother-in-law, Mary Frizzell; six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on a date to be determined.

BERNICE VANN
Bernice Lucille Vann, 86, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024.
She was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Trenton, to the late Harlon and Dorthy Reeves. Lucille received her education from Bryant Primary School, and Pisgah High School. At age 40, Lucille pursued a career in nursing and enrolled in nursing school at Northeast Alabama State Community College, eventually becoming a registered nurse. She dedicated herself to the profession from 1987 to 2003, providing compassionate care to countless patients throughout her career. Lucy had a creative side and found joy in photography. She joined a photography club where her talent shone, often winning first place in club photo contests.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Vann; sister, Wilma Reeves; and brother Woodrow Reeves.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Vann Jr., and Thomas Vann; daughters-in-law, Jo Ann Vann and Cindy Vann; granddaughter, April Vann; great-grandmother to Joslyn Humbred; sisters, Martha Whited, Anne Trotter, and Jean Jenson; brother, Douglas Reeves.
Graveside services were Sunday, June 2, at Reeves Cemetery in Bryant, Ala.
Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home, located in Trenton, GA Saturday June 1 from 2 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on June 2, 2024, at 12:00 EST at Reeves Cemetery in Bryant, Alabama.
