Over the weekend of May 18th, Baby Hughy’s soft launched the opening of their food truck and mobile pizza unit next to the Dade County Sports Complex. May 21st was the official opening, and they hope the building construction will be complete in seven or eight months.
Owned by Eric Hugh Harris, this Baby Hughy’s branch is run by Jared “Chef JJ” Johnson and co-manager Chase. “We might as well be brothers,” the pair joked as Chase prepared a customer’s calzone.
Of the menu, Johnson said, “It’s a little bit of Italian, a little bit of American. Everything is fresh, made in house. Our produce comes from Melon Patch in Chickamauga. Our local distributor has one farm that they choose from.”
The food truck menu is a condensed version of the full menu, featuring breadsticks, wings, pizzas, calzones, several pasta dishes, a burger, and other sandwiches (including a Reuben and Philly cheesesteak).

In the early afternoon of May 21st, a customer awaiting his order said he frequents the Tunnel Hill location, and because he sometimes works in Trenton, he was thrilled that a Baby Hughy’s location is open here.
Johnson said, “I’ll put our smash burger up against anybody’s in the South. Our lasagna’s really good, our chicken alfredo’s really good, our calzones are really, really hard to beat. We smoke our wings, put them in the fryer just for a minute to get a little crispness to them, then we season them up whichever way you like.”
Harris posted on social media about the opening, asking customers to be patient while kinks are worked out and staff gain experience. Baby Hughy’s is open seven days a week from 11am-8pm. Online ordering will soon be available, and orders can be called in to 706-657-3377.
