REV. BOBBY MCFALLS

Reverend Bobby Melvin McFalls, 90, formerly of Cowpens, S.C., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Born in Clifton, S.C., he was the loving husband of Nancy Marie Coleman McFalls for 68 years and son of the late George Stanley McFalls and Mae Short McFalls. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School and Fruitland Bible College. Bob was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War and was very proud to serve his country. He had a great love for animals, but he especially loved his childhood horse, Maude. Bob lived in many places in his lifetime, but his heart was always in Cowpens. Reverend McFalls served his Lord for 38 years in ministry and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” McFalls.

Survivors include his wife; son, Mark Thomas McFalls (Diane) of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter, Eva Gass (Michael) of Trenton; grandchildren, Joshua Gass, Jessica Gass, Matthew McFalls, Rachel McFalls Hovenden (Michael), Brandon McFalls and Heather McFalls Thorn (Harry); great-grandchildren, Georgia Hovenden, Brigg Hovenden, Emmi Thorn and Poppy Thorn; niece, Vicki Shipp; great-niece, Brooke Shipp; great–nephews, Scott McFalls and Stanley McFalls.

Reverend McFalls was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” McFalls.

A Celebration of Life service will be Friday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Spartanburg, S.C. with Reverend Rich Lancaster officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Fort Price Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1–2 p.m. on Friday at the church.

MARGIE NEWBY

Margie Lanelle Newby, 93, of Wildwood, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024.

Mrs. Newby was born on May 27, 1930, in Dowling Park, Fla., to the late Milton and Mertie Parker. She was known by many as their “favorite” teacher during her time as an educator with the Dade County School System, having retired following 35 years of service. She was a member of Trenton Church of Christ for more than 70 years where she served as Sunday School teacher and enjoyed cooking and traveling with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newby was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian Newby; brother, Maurice “Taft” Parker.

Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Bill Newby; daughters, Bessie Carolyn Ashe of Trenton, and Jacque (Tommy) Pigage of Hopkinsville, Ky.; sisters, Martha “Snookie” Pitts, Peggy Tompkins, and Jackie Hill; brother, Milton “Bud” Parker; sisters-in-law, Ginger Parker and Mary Parker; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 2, in the funeral home chapel with her son-in-law, Tommy Pigage and Minister Ron Gilbert officiating. Interment was in Brown’s Gap Cemetery.

JAMES PACE

James Alan “Jim Bo” Pace, 64, of Lookout Mountain, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024.

He was born on Dec.15, 1959, to Jerry and Patricia Pace.

He was a wonderful dad and great friend.

He is survived by his children, Jameson, DJ, Dustin, Dillon, Dana Pace Watts and Kristin O’Dell; brother David (Angie) Pace and sister, Lea(Ricky) Simmons; 11 grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

WILLIAM RADCLIFFE, JR.

William Thomas Radcliffe Jr., 88, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., passed away early April 30, 2024, following a short battle with cancer.

Bill lived in Chattanooga, Tenn., from 1977 to the present. He was a native of Newport News, Va. Bill worked in a shipyard, on offshore oil rigs, and had a lifetime love for the ocean. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had a passion for flying airplanes. Bill loved the Lord and was an active member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church for decades.

Bill had five children with his wife Peggy who preceded him in death along with two of his sons Bill and Shaun. Bill and Peggy had 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bill was loved by many people and was known as a bit of a character.  He was a prolific teller of tales.

Donations may be made to the Chattanooga Rescue Mission in lieu of flowers.

A celebration of Bill’s life is being planned to take place at Lookout Valley Baptist Church in early June. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
