BEVERLY FREENEY
Beverly Jean Keen Freeney, 82, of Muncie, Ind., passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Beverly “Bev” was born March 2, 1942, to Logan and Georgia Keen in Marietta, Ohio. As a teenager, she was cheer captain and homecoming queen at Green High School in Green, Ohio. She attended Bob Jones University where she met and married her college sweetheart Pat. They spent their married life working in churches together. She dedicated her life to serving others and furthering the Kingdom of God.
She was a devoted and loving mother of four and grandmother of eight.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Pat; parents, Logan and Georgia. Survivors include her daughters, Lisa and Joy (Jon) Arita; sons, Steve (Karri) and Mike; brothers, Charles (Mary) Keen and Randall (Marg) Keen; grandchildren: Logan Albritton, Anna Albritton, Violet Freeney, Roman Freeney, Olivia Freeney, Hudson Arita, Croix Freeney, and Avery Kate Arita.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton. Funeral services will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, at 12:30 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the American Red Cross in her honor.

BOBBY FUGATT
Bobby Elmer Fugatt, 90, of Inverness, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at HPH Hospice Care in Lecanto, Fla.
Bobby was born Feb. 21, 1934, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Noah Elmer (N.E.) and Lora Hazel (Hamlin) Fugatt. He was a graduate of Dade County High School where he excelled in football as a running back and held an unbroken record for many years serving on the first team at Dade County High. He loved sports, having played on the EPB baseball and bowling teams, coached little league baseball in East Ridge, Tenn., for many years, was a water sport enthusiast, but loved golf most of all. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was employed by the EPB and owned his own trucking company before retiring to Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Bobby E. Fugatt, Jr., James Roger Fugatt; wife, Betty Ladd Thompson Fugatt; and step-daughter, Kim Thompson Patterson.
Survivors include his sister, Diane Fugatt Barnard of Wildwood; brother, Jack Fugatt, Inverness, Fla.; daughter, Cathy Ann (Curtis) Harris, Franklin, Tenn.; son, Robert Blake (Missy) Fugatt, Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mindy D. (Matt) Bryson, Smyrna, Tenn., Abby N. (Chris) Owen, Ooltewah, Tenn., Dr. Robert B. (Jacqueline) Fugatt, Jr., Charleston, S.C., and Ali T. (Joseph) DeWild, Ringgold; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Reagan and Aidan Bryson, Cameron and Parker Owen, Bella, Sage, and River Fugatt; nieces and nephews, Patti Fugatt Callaway, Shannon Barnard (Kevin) Van Dusen, and Kelly Barnard.
The family wishes to thank his niece, Patti Callaway, for the wonderful care given during his illness.
A celebration of life will be Tuesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with full military honors. Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

HAL MCKAIG
Howard “Hal” Austin McKaig Jr., 67, of the New Salem community on Lookout Mountain, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Hal dedicated his career to being an electrician, showcasing his skills and expertise. His commitment and work ethic were evident throughout his professional life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard McKaig and Patsy Renfroe McKaig; and sister, Kim Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Susan McKaig; children, Josh (Sara) McKaig and Loren (Andrew) Jones; grandchildren; extended family members.
A Celebration of Hal’s life will be Sunday, April 7, 2 p.m., at Chester Frost Park Pavilion.

JANIE PRYOR
Janie Dorothy Pryor, 78, of Trenton, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024.
Janie was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Salem, Fla., to the late J.D. and Jessie Drigger Jackson. In 1963, she married her beloved late husband James Pryor, and together they raised four children. She will always be cherished as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who held a deep love for her family. She was a member of New Vision Church of God.
In addition to her husband, James, and parents, Janie was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ethel Moore, James Jackson, Ander Jackson, Lester Jackson, Jay Jackson, Gwen Pritchard, Joyce Ann Clemons; and son-in-law, Dewayne Gass.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Gass, Lisa (Mark) Godwin, Buster (Kellee) Pryor, and Kenny (Kandace) Pryor; grandchildren, Hank Rumley, Devonna (Kevin) Smartt, Tyler (Crystal) Pryor, Logan Pryor, Bailey Pryor, Jaiden Black, Skyleigh Black, Gunner Pryor, Eric Pryor, Kinsley Pryor, Braylon Sullivan, Brynna Sullivan-Pryor, and Ashley (Nick) Walker; great-grandchildren, Cole and Hunter Smartt; sisters, Doris Morgan and Maedena Collins; extended family members.
Funeral services were Friday, March 29, at New Vision Church of God with Brother Michael Kilgore officiating. Interment was at New Home Cemetery in Henagar, Ala. Buster Pryor, Kenny Pryor, Hank Rumley, Tyler Pryor, Logan Pryor, and Mark Godwin served as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the nurses of Tapestry Hospice for their compassionate care of Janie during her final days.

SHEILA WOOD
Sheila Ruth Wood, 66, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 27, 1957, to Betty Gray Abbott and the late Lester Waymon Abbott. Sheila loved knitting, crocheting, and crafts. She especially loved Christmas decorations and lights. Above, all else, she loved her family.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Lester Waymon Abbot; sister, Karen Abbott; and brother, Timothy Abbott.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Wood; mother, Betty Abbott; son, Kevin (Brandy) Abbott; grandson, Daniel Joseph “D.J.” Abbott; siblings, Lester (Kim) Abbott, Melvin (Tammy) Abbott, Randy Abbott, and Cindy (Darryl) Gravitt; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services were Monday, April 1, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Hawkins Cemetery.
