Diana “Pete” Marie Blevins, 56, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Diana was born Nov. 13, 1967, to the late Ralph and Margie Brown Kerns. She found joy in gardening, collecting figurines, and adored Elvis. Above all else, Diana cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Kay Huff.

Diana is survived by her husband of 32 years, Greg Blevins; daughters, Amanda McCord, Alecia (Matt) McDonald, and Cassie (Chad) Howard; sisters, Karen (James) Weetles, Judy (Danny) Vandergriff, and Joyce (Wayne) Tudors; brothers, Gene (Brenda) Kerns and Rick (Billie) Kerns; five grandchildren; extended family members.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Rodney Stevens officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

John Thomas “Tommy” Gilbert Jr., 79 of Trenton, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024.

Mr. Gilbert was a retired saddle maker and enjoyed spending time watching bird’s at his feeder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Lulabelle Walker Gilbert; infant children, David Gilbert, John Martin Gilbert, twin girls, Faye and Jean Gilbert; wife of 52 years, Betty Gilbert; second wife, Shirley Stevens; son-in-law, Charles Eddy Cloud; sisters, Wanda Walker and Alice Mae Buse.

Survivors include his children, Patsy Cloud, Donna Hester (William), Eddie Gilbert (Felicia); grandchildren, Amy Parker (Gene), Wendy Pritchett (Jason), J.J. Gilbert, Joshua Gilbert (Nacole), Kimberly Gilbert (Tyler Whittening), Labron Hester, Megan Hester, Tiffany Hester, Tyler Gilbert; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Gilbert and Ronnie Gilbert; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 4, at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jason Pritchett officiating. Interment was in New Canaan Cemetery.

Mary Emmanell Long, 87 of Trenton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

Mary was a wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She was a baptized Christian believer, homemaker, cook, Sunday school teacher and student, church camp counselor and crafts director, and cub and Boy Scout leader. She was an artist who loved carving ostrich and emu eggs, leatherwork, gourd decorating, quilting, knot-tying, sewing, beading, crocheting, tatting, knitting, painting, clay-modeling, calligraphy, singing, clogging, playing piano and entertaining folks. Mary was a published author of two books. She was adventurous and loved traveling, speaking new languages and was proficient in sign language. She attended the Dade County Senior Center, got her AA degree at 60 and graduated from the Dade County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy at 86 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Long; brother, Ward David Hooper; parents, Theodore Otto Hooper and Martha Effie Davis Hooper.

Survivors include her sons, David James Long (Diane Marie) and Danny Marion Long (Janet); daughter, Jeanne Lynell Long; six grandchildren; seven great–grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sandra Lynn Seay, 60, of the New England community, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Linda Pilgrim Short, and Papaw, Addison Avery.

Survivors include her partner, Dale Morrow; children, Tabitha Seay, Dylan (Dania) Seay, and Tara (Austin) Quails; grandchildren, Memphis Seay, Mya Foster, Jaxon Ramsey, Kody, Tyler, and Sky Hebert, Raylynn and Braxton Quails; sisters, Joann Plemons, Holley Short, and Tonya Boyd; nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dewayne Lavay Veal, 70, from Lookout Mountain, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024.

Dewayne was a master carpenter and craftsman for over 50 years. He built many homes, cabins, apartments and barns all over Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. He was a compassionate man and helped many people by offering his services, finances and even sharing his home. Dewayne was a lifelong member of Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Adams; parents, Harvey and Rosalee Veal; and granddaughter, Taylor Veal.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Sandy (Lee) Derryberry, Kristi (Chuck) Gold, Scotty (Leah) Veal, Brent Veal, and Derrick Veal; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Bruce Veal; sisters, Deborah Veal and Darlene Keller; extended family members; special friend, Katrina Bass.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb.17, at 2 p.m., at Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Payne’s Chapel Cemetery, Lookout Mountain.

Nina Gayle Willett, 87, of Rising Fawn, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024.

Mrs. Willett was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Nina Smith McBryar.

Survivors include her husband, Lamar Willett; two daughters, one son, and two step-sons; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Zack Ditmar officiating.
