JIM KILGORE

James Lee Kilgore, 89 of Rising Fawn, passed Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023.

He was born in Kingsport, Tenn.,on July 10, 1934, to Clayton and Lillian Kilgore. Jim was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, for which he received the GI Bill to pay for college. He attended the University of Tennessee where he received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Eastman Kodak in the chemical division in Kingsport, Tenn. He was transferred to Batesville, Ark., in 1975 and helped to build the Arkansas Eastman Chemical plant from the ground up. His career spanned 40 years and he became the operations manager of the plant. Jim retired in 1997 and went on to do short term mission work in many places, and served in Bangladesh for three years, and one year in Sri Lanka after the earthquake and tsunami of 2004. Because of his work and connections in Bangladesh, Jim was instrumental in helping start Care Channels Bangladesh, which is an arm of Care Channels International, headquartered in Singapore. Care Channels works among the poor and marginalized across 6 different countries in Asia. Jim was a loving, faithful husband and father. He had a unique ability to lead and inspire people and was very active in mission work and his local church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Bill.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sandra Kilgore; son Matt Kilgore; and niece, Karen Kilgore.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m., at Trenton First Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., until the service hour.

AUDREY MASSENGALE

Audrey Lucille Massengale, of Trenton, born July 19, 1968, in Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Nov. 8, 2023.

Audrey was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara J. Winchester; father, Kenneth N. Rogers; grandmothers, Lucille Seymoure and Audrey Rogers; grandfathers, Bill Winchester and Jospeh Rogers.

Survivors include her son, Rex (Mandy) Massengale; grandchildren, Courtney (Brett), Averi and Beau Bonvillan, Rylee and Carolyn Massengale; sister, Debby (Charles) Taylor; nephews, Dustin (Megan), Jazz, Jada, Summer, Nevaeh Shupe, Chris (Stephanie), Hannah, Collin, Finley, Sydney Shupe; aunt, Carolyn (Dennis) Pritchard; cousin, Denise (Kern) Chassion and family; special friends, Tess Richards and Gina Pell.

A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m., at Boydston Cemetery in Lookout Valley with Dennis Pritchard officiating.

WADE NORRIS

Wade Lamar Norris, 84, of Rock Spring, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023.

Lamar was born April 16, 1939, to the late Clarence and Dora Goodwin Norris. He was a devoted family man who adored his children and grandchildren. Music played an important role in Lamar’s life ­– he had a knack for playing the guitar and snare drum. In addition, Lamar enjoyed fishing and watching Alabama football.

In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue Norris; grandson, Phillip Adam; great-granddaughter, Bethany Watson; sister, Alice Virginia Norris.

Survivors include his children, Sheree (DeWayne) Murray, Phillip (Anna) Norris, Pam Norris, Crystal (Jason) Willoughby, Shauna (Justin) Henry, and Quinton (Emily) Norris; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Summer) McMullins, Richard (Rick) McMullins, Lacey Norris, Ashlin Silvey, Arin Hester, Jessica Norris, Riley Higdon, Emma Wilkes, Summer Harbuck, and Meagan Henderson; 20 great-grandchildren; eight and a half great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 11, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Phillip Norris, Jason Willoughby, and Tim Hawkins officiating. Interment was at Longshore Cemetery in Sand Rock, Ala.
