William “Bill” Franklin Bigham, Jr., passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born April 29, 1939, to the late Bill Bigham Sr., and Dean Ervin Bigham. Also affectionately known as Papaw and “Birdman,” Bill served in the National Guard and spent the majority of his life as an educator and coach. He taught U.S. History and coached football and basketball in Bradley County and North Georgia. After retiring from teaching he spent his “free time” officiating high school football, basketball, and softball as well as playing competitive sports well into his 70s.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joy Kinsey Bigham; and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Gayle Bigham.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa (Jason) Reuter, Chrystie Bigham, Kelly (Scott) Blazon, Amy (Nicky) Norwood, and Jody Gatlin; siblings, Donna Carter, Rick (Diane) Bigham, and Cheryl (Steve) Johnson; grandchildren, Rebecca (Tyler) Nelson, Emma Waddel, Kenli Young (Caleb), Amelia Reuter, Ellie Bigham, and Cade and Knox Gatlin.

Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 8, at Companion Funeral Home. A private family burial was Monday, Oct. 9.

Donna Arlene Bradford, 69, of the New Salem community, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023.

Donna was born Jan. 1, 1954, to the late Harold and Maybelle Broom Oliver. She had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader, always seeking to learn. Donna’s self-taught talents included painting, refurbishing antiques, quilting, and many other hobbies. She approached life with an “I can do that” attitude, which she instilled in her children. She loved a good estate sale with her grandchildren. Donna was quick-witted and always equipped with trivia pieces, music or movie references. She loved the Lord, held her family dear, and her grandchildren had her heart.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald Oliver and Laverne Childs Jr., and niece, Skye Oliver.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Gilbert Bradford; children, Amber (Kevin) Fralix and Mason (Rhonda) Bradford; brother, Wesley Oliver; grandchildren, Sydney, Siege, Sentry, Steele, and Sachi Fralix; Stryder and Lakelynn Bradford; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be Thursday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4p.m., until the service hour.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to a dinner at New Salem Baptist Church.

Edith Eloise Franks, 68, of Trenton, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2023.

Edith was a member of Slygo Baptist Church

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Reece Franks; brother, John Wayne Ferguson, all of Trenton; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Billy Jo Conner officiating.
