BRENDA ALEXANDER
Brenda Louise Alexander, 83, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
She was born on March 9, 1940, in LaFayette to the late Andrew Morgan Young and Irene Kirby Young. She was a member of the Rising Fawn Church of God. Mrs. Alexander enjoyed taking care of children in and out of her home and was also a part-time cashier at Dollar General.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harrill Alexander; daughter, Anita Kay Alexander; brother, Allen Young and her sister, Helen Bagley.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Gail Alexander-Nanni, Teresa Sutton, Melody Parker and Jackie Dutto; brother, Richard Young; sister, Alethea Fye; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 1, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Hagler officiating. Interment was the LaFayette City Cemetery.

CHRIS MCBRYAR
Christopher “Chris” McBryar, 35, of Trenton, passed away suddenly Friday, Sept. 1, 2023.
Chris was a 2006 graduate of Dade County High School and was employed by Koch Foods for more than 15 years. He loved to golf and was a huge sports fan of Braves baseball and the UGA bulldogs.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, L.G. and Velva McBryar; maternal grandparents, Pete and Catherine Kennedy.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Brittaney McBryar; daughters, Hannah and Caylee McBryar; granddaughter, Audrey Lee; parents, Wayne and Cinda McBryar; brothers, Jonathon (Jerri) McBryar, and Josh (Katherine) McBryar; nieces, Lillie, Lydia, Ava, and Nora; nephew, Myles.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 5 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home. Interment was in Deer Head Cove Cemetery.

TABATHA SCRUGGS
Tabatha Diann Scruggs, 47, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 5, 1976, Tabatha was the beloved daughter of Charles and Kay Blackstock Hayes. She spent her early years in Valley Head, Ala., and most of her adult life in Evergreen, Ala. Recently, Tabatha relocated to Trenton to be closer to her loved ones. She dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as a teacher at Brownville Church School in Brownville, Ala. She cherished her family immensely and held a profound love for animals.
Tabatha was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hayes; nephew, Trevor Smith; brother-in-law, Allen Smith; and father-in-law, Bill Scruggs.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Scruggs; children, Amber Scruggs, Alice Scruggs, Rodney (Hayden) Scruggs, and Dakota (Kerigan Jordan) Gravitt; siblings, Renee Smith, Star White, and Jason (Sami) Smith; lifelong friend, Vanessa Crane; nieces and nephews, Cody (Ciara) Smith, Samuel Smith, Baily Smith, Emma Smith, and Makayla Nichols; great nieces and nephews, Hudson, Amelia, and Alyssa.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Trenton Baptist Cemetery.

LARRY STEVENS
Larry Allen Stevens, 70, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
Larry attended Dade County Schools and Kirkman Technical School and was employed as a supervisor at Southern Cellulose for 45 years. He was a member of Fairview Church of God and enjoyed fishing and working the land with his heavy equipment.
Larry was preceded in death by his daughters, Kelley and Starla Stevens; parents, Johnny and Frances Stevens; one brother; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shelia Timmons Stevens; son, Duane (Melissa) Allen; grandsons, Tyler, Matthew, and Arran; former daughter-in-law, Kim Allen; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 30th in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Stewart Wilkerson and Bro. Buddy Palmer officiating. Interment was in Fairview Church of God Cemetery.

MARY RUTH TOWNSEND
Mary Ruth Townsend, 76, of Wildwood, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2023.
Mrs. Townsend was a 1966 graduate of Central High School and was a member of the Rising Fawn Baptist Church. She worked as a cosmetologist for over 60 years, and was known as the ex officio “Mayor of Wildwood.” She was a loving and caring mother, and grandmother “Mimi” to her grandchildren.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick D. Townsend, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Lisa Townsend; and parents, Robert “Bob” and Bonnie Jones Butts.
Survivors include her children, Patrick “Don” Townsend of Wildwood, and Rebecca (Phillip) Johnson of Hixson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Aaron Patrick Johnson and Elizabeth Anne “Beth” Johnson; cousins.
Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 31, at Rising Fawn Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Crider, Rev. Robby Dunn, and Rev. Chris Dover officiating. Interment was at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West in Lookout Valley with John Montieth, Earl Montieth, Jonathan Montieth, Daved Neeley, Andrew Givens, and Shannon Henry serving as pallbearers.

DUSTIN WADE
Dustin Shea Wade, 39, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, due to a heart attack.
Dustin was born Sept. 23, 1983, to Steve Wade and Johnnie Sullivan. Dustin was known for his big bear hugs, huge heart, and his zest for life. He always had a room for a friend in need. His most treasured memories were spent with his daughter Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Damian Blaze Wade; and brother, Steven Ryan Wade.
Survivors include his daughter, Zoey Mary Jane Wade; parents, Steve and Marites Wade, Scott and Johnnie Sullivan; grandparents, Leon and Gail Wade and Henry and Beth Greenwood.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m., ET at the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects starting from 2 p.m., until service time.
