LARRY CAGLE

Larry “Pop” Cagle, 75, of Trenton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023.

Mr. Cagle was born in Summerville on Dec. 11, 1947, to the late Edward and Eloise Cagle and has resided in Dade County for the past 57 years. He was employed by Amerisource in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he served as a route driver, delivering pharmaceuticals to various locations throughout the area. Mr. Cagle was a true family man and loved spending time together with them as much as possible. He had a passion for fishing but also enjoyed working on cars, mowing his yard and caring for his dog.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Clifford Wesley Witlock.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Sams Cagle; son, Wesley Eugene (Jennifer) Cagle; half-sister, Betty Stanfield; grandson, Mickey Eugene Cagle; granddaughter, Tamra Arline (Larry) Leford and great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Sky Ledford.

A memorial service was Wednesday, Aug. 16, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Cliff Watkins officiating.

DIANE SPURGIN

Jaley Diane Spurgin, 67, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2023.

Born on June 11, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tenn., Diane was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Betty Keel Townson. Diane’s warm-hearted nature earned her love and admiration from everyone she encountered. She embraced her role as a grandmother figure to countless children and treated them all with boundless affection. Diane’s cooking skills were renowned, particularly for her peanut butter fudge. She was also a devoted member of the Mountain View Church of God for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Townson.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Marvin Spurgin; sons, Jamie (Misty) Spurgin and Joshua (Kelli) Spurgin; adopted daughters, Candy Robinson and Samantha Withey; grandchildren, Evan, Luke, Chandler, Sara, Emberly, Grayson, Mikala, McKenzie, and Matthew; great-grandchild, Weston; sister, Brenda (Jim) Graves; brothers, Jerry (Sylvia) Townson and Darrell (Brenda) Townson; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 17, at Mountain View Church of God in Bryant, Ala., with Brother Brad Bridges officiating. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery.

BRUCE ANDREW TURNER

Bruce Andrew Turner, 57, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023.

Bruce was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Sept. 2, 1965, to the late Andrew and Vivian Turner and resided in Dade County for most of his life. Bruce was a loving husband and devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. He also enjoyed working on cars and tinkering with his solar panels.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Bruce Turner, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Willene Pullen Turner; daughter, Elizabeth Turner (Adam) Russell; brothers, Charles (Patsy) Cannon, John (Teresa) Cannon and David (Cindy) Cannon; sister, Heather (Gene) Davis.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

PATRICIA WILLOUGHBY

Patricia Ann Willoughby, 73, of Trenton, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2023.

Patricia was born Aug. 18, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tenn., and was a pharmacy tech at CVS until retirement. She was a member of New England Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh C. Coates and Lazell A. Coates.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Chavis; grandchildren, Brooke Merchant and Aiden Chavis; brothers, Thomas E. Coates and Sonny Coates; nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Dade Health and Rahab and Tapestry Hospice of Ringgold.

Her celebration of life will be today, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Allen Flowers officiating. She will be laid to rest at Payne Cemetery in Trenton.
