ROBERT BROWN, JR.

Robert (Bob) Lee Brown, Jr., 63, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1960, and was raised in Dade County. He was a loyal and loving husband, amazing father, proud PaPaw and an extraordinary brother and friend. He was of the Christian faith and recently mad new amends with the Lord. For many years, he worked at Coca-Cola in South Georgia and then was employed with Mechanical Drives in Chattanooga, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Angela Brown; mother, Kay Sisson Edwards; father and step-mother, Robert Brown, Sr., and Sallie Brown; sister, Lisa Bingham.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie (Garrett) McFall; son, Ken (Amy) Brown; daughter, Kaytee (Richard) Brown; grandchildren, Randall Conner, Jade Brown, Alyssa Ellis, Gage Brown, Braxton McFall, Blake Ellis, Paicyn Davis, Kamden McFall, and Rhylan Patty; sister, Debra (Barry) Webb; brother, Dale (Monica) Brown; sister, Sandra Ibeakanma; brother, James (Kathy) Bingham; step-father, James Edwards; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life and memorial gathering will be Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Wildwood Community Center for those that would like to pay their respects.

RLENE CHAMBERS

Rlene “Grannie Bunk” Chambers, 81, of Pisgah, Ala., passed away Friday, April 28, 2023.

Mrs. Chambers was of the Baptist faith and had been employed with Nations Hosiery Mill, Lookout Knit, and Creative Knitwear. “Grannie Bunk” loved her grandchildren, enjoyed fishing and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Chambers; parents, Rafe and Alma Lance; sisters, Jewell Stevenson and Carlene Moore; granddaughters, Brittany and Cheryl Lynn.

Survivors includer her “special person” Brandy Lea; daughters, Jan (Randy) Shoemake of Jasper, Tenn., and Vongeline Atchley of Ider, Ala.; brother, Toby (Melissa) Lance; grandchildren, Brandy (Brad) McClendon, Brandon Horton, Brian Carter, Candace (Jeremiah) Griffith, Reggie (Ashley) Mosley, & Sheri (Beas) Womack; great-grandchildren, Eddie and Jacob Hawkins, Levi Horton, Kaylee Haggard, Creek Higdon, Cannon and Kristen Womack, Kruz and Kynsley Griffith, Zoey Carter, Easton and Chloe Mosley, Haley Rector, and Caden Ivory; special people, Curtis Stevenson, Jordon Morona, Rocky Eace, and Lucy Chambers; four nieces.

Funeral services were Monday, May 1, in the funeral home chapel with Minister Austin Gates officiating. Interment was in Fairview Church of God Cemetery, Flat Rock, Ala.

LORETTA GASS

Loretta Gass, 69, of Bryant, Ala., passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Loretta was passionate about her career as a registered nurse for more than 20 years at Erlanger and Parkridge Healthcare. She was of the Baptist faith and loved teaching clogging at her studio in Trenton at Loretta Gass School of Dance for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, R.L. Nelson, and son, Michael Gass.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 plus years, John Gass, Jr.; children, Brad (Sarah) Gass of Bryant, Ala., Brian (Whitney) Gass of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tiffany (Dustin) Graham of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael (Kaylee) Smith, Trace Gass, Matthew Gass, Emma Gass, Evie Gass, Alexis Graham, and Camden Graham; great-granddaughter, Kate Smith; mother, Ruth Nelson of Bryant, Ala.; brothers, James and Dennis (Evon) Nelson; sister, Denise (William) Lynn; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions should be made in Loretta’s memory to the Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center at Memorial Hospital, 605 Glenwood Dr., Chattanooga, TN  37404, or Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Parkridge, 2333 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga TN  37404.

SANDY HIXON

Sandra “Sandy” Jean Hixon, 70, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Born Nov. 30, 1952, to the late Clifford and Stella Kirkland, she spent several years working in communications for the Chattanooga Times and made many lasting friendships during this time. However, it was with her family that she found true happiness. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially with her grandchildren whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Hixon; sisters, Gail Kelley, Ellie Geach, and Betty Snyder; grandson, Jake Hixon.

Survivors include her sons, Scott (Stephanie) Hixon and Chad Hixon; grandchildren: Kate Hixon, Betsy Hixon, Cory Hixon, and Eric Hixon; in-laws; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are today, May 3, at noon in the funeral home chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation is today, May 3, from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

EVELYN SATTERFIELD

Evelyn Pearl Satterfield, 95, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Evelyn was born to the late Charlie and Bertie Ziegler Moore on May 8, 1927, in Jackson County, Ala.  She enjoyed working outdoors and gardening. Evelyn was a sweet lady and will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by husband, Willie Satterfield; sisters, Bernie Lee Wooden and Sarah Kirby; brothers, Burnice Dee Moore and Leslie Earl Moore.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was Saturday, April 29, at Stewart Cemetery in Fort Payne, Ala.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cumberland Health and Rehab, and ABC Hospice for their compassionate care.
