DCHS Grad Returns to Lead Marching Band
Dade County Schools is pleased to welcome home one of its own, Mr. Jonah Browder. The Dade County Board of Education approved Superintendent Ingle’s recommendation for Jonah to lead the DCHS Marching Wolverines at the April regularly scheduled board meeting.
Mr. Browder is from Trenton, Ga, where he attended Dade County High School and graduated in 2017. Upon graduation, he attended Jacksonville State University where he got his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. During his time at JSU, he was a member of the Marching Southerners where he served as a trumpet section leader, he performed with the JSU Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, was a member of the Jazz Ensemble, and is a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity.
Mr. Browder worked with the Fort Payne Middle and High School students with marching band and concert bands before graduating in December of 2022. In January of 2023, Jonah moved back to Trenton and began substitute teaching at Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe High School and taught band on occasion.
Jonah and his fiancé, Makayla, will be married in December of 2023 and are so excited to both be in an area where they both grew up. Jonah is so blessed for this opportunity to take over such a great legacy left by Mr. and Mrs. Chance and will continue to grow the Dade County band programs for years to come.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Jonah Browder to our Dade County family. Welcome home!
