JOHN BARNES
Johnny “John” Carl Barnes, 76, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022.
John was born to the late John R. Barnes and Mary Elizabeth Davis on Nov. 8, 1946. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and an avid Alabama football fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Barnes; brothers, David and Danny Barnes; and sister, Mary Barnes Crabtree.
Survivors include his sisters, Linda Barnes, Debbie (Roger) Brooks and Glenda Taylor; step-children, Cherish (Chris) Sutherland and Ron Waldrop; grandchildren, Laelynn Sutherland, Lane Waldrop and Holden Waldrop; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Saturday, Nov. 26 at Higdon Cemetery in Higdon, Ala.

PAULINE DEAN
Pauline Dean, 90, of Rising Fawn, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and a member of the Rising Fawn United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a loving, mother, grandmother, sister, and was loved by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jiles Dean, Sr.; sisters, Laura Schedko and Lorena Durham; parents, Col. Arthur L. Toups and Bertha Watkins Toups.
Survivors include her children, Jiles “Jimmy” (Phoebe) Dean, Jr., and Renee (Freddie) Bradford, all of Rising Fawn; grandchildren, Shonda (Chris) Harris, Levi (Samantha) Dean, and Nikki (Ronnie) Wallin; great-grandchildren, Avery and Autumn Dean, Darby Harris, Sophie, Emily, Phoebe, and Isaac Wallin; sisters, Jeanette Kelley and Angela Shively; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at Hanna Cemetery with Rev. Mike King officiating.

BETH GATLIN
Elizabeth “Beth” Joan Gatlin, 77, passed away at her home in Sulphur Springs, Ala., on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022.
Beth loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandkids. She was an avid “Bama” fan and retired from Shaw Industries after many years of service. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
She was born to the late Marcus and Edith Barkley Hatfield on Aug. 10, 1945 and was also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda McMunn.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Bobby Gatlin; son, Bobby “Cliff” (J.P.) Gatlin; siblings, Roberta Harper and Wiley (Sharon) Hatfield; grandchildren, Nick (Kara) Gatlin and Jake Gatlin; great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Marshall Gatlin; extended family members.
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 27, at Moore Funeral Home with Brother David Brown officiating. Burial was at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cliff Gatlin, Nick Gatlin, Jake Gatlin, Ernest McElhaney, Paul Morgan and Wiley Hatfield.

WAYNE HILL
Wayne “Unc” Hill, 77, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022.
Wayne was born in Bryant, Ala., to the late Rayford and Ival Hutcheson Hill on June 9, 1945. He loved fishing, family gatherings, and riding around in his lil’ Chevy Spark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Donald Hill.
Survivors include his sister, Pearl (Leonard Atkinson) Hill; brother, Ricky (Cindy) Hill; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with David Higdon, Brad Bridges, and Bradley Wooten officiating. Interment was at Bryant Holiness Cemetery.

ROY MCDANIEL II
Roy “Chip” Leon McDaniel II, 52, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022.
Mr. McDaniel was the son of Roy Leon McDaniel and Martha Darlene Smith. He was
born in Fort Oglethorpe on July 31, 1970. Throughout his life, Chip proudly called
many areas of the Tennessee Valley home, but especially treasured his days living on Sand
Mountain near his loved ones in Trenton, and Bryant, Ala. For more than 25 years, he worked at Heatec,
Inc. in Chattanooga, Tenn. He served as Youth Pastor at Mountain View
Church of God in Bryant, Ala., before becoming an active member of Trenton Ministry
Center. Chip was an empathetic soul with a compassionate heart.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur Hughes Smith; father, Roy Leon
McDaniel; and grandmother, Katherine Bernice Smith.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Darlene Smith; siblings, George Clinton McDaniel, Toni Springman,
and Eton Kirby; sons, Noah Clayton McDaniel, Nathaniel Seth McDaniel, and Isaiah Ford
McDaniel; granddaughter, Charleigh Elizabeth McDaniel; cousins, nieces,
and nephews.

BERTIE SARTIN
Bertie Kay Sartin, 84, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022.
Mrs. Sartin was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church and had worked for many years at Chattem and Signal Knitting Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Edith Thomasson; husband, James Edgar Sartin; brother, Campbell Thomasson; sisters, Lois Hardy and Aleene Durham.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pat Sarton of Lookout Valley, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shea (Shannon) Sartin, and Lauren (Mack) Ridge; great-grandchildren, Sophia Sartin, Samuel Sartin, Weston Ridge, Barrett Ridge and Harper Ridge; brothers, Dewey Thomasson, Donnie (Juanice) Thomasson, and Leon (Edna) Thomasson.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Dec.1, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Brother Darrell Smith officiating.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

BILLY STEPHENSON
Billy Edward Stephenson, 88, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022.
Billy enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and cutting hay. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Higdon, Ala., where he served as a Deacon. He also was a member of North Sand Mountain Masonic Lodge # 920. Billy was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was born to the late Elmer and Lola Mae Stephenson on May 26, 1934.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Stephenson, JC Stephenson, and James Stephenson; sisters; Louise Chapman and Reba Sue Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Leavern Stephenson, son; Steve Stephenson, granddaughter; Brandi Stephenson (Dale) Hamlen; great-granddaughter; Kaylen Hamlen.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 28, at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastors Jimmy Hixson and Scott Gudger officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

DENIS STRAUGHN
Denis Straughn passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022.
Denis was a loving husband, dedicated father to his children, grandchildren, and great–grandchildren. He had a loving sprit, endless bravery, was a problem solver, spiritual man involved in many church activities. He loved to hunting, fishing and sharing the experience with his grandchildren. He dedicated his whole life to his family.
Denis was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Straughn Sr., father, Donald Straughn Sr., and mother, Yvonne Straughn.
Survivors include his wife Helen Straughn of 48 years; children, Lana Meschino (Paul Meschino), Ronnie Webber (Carolyn Castro), and Yvonne Straughn (Nicholas Tinker); grandchildren, Michael Morgan (Angel Morgan), Ethan Webber, Aubrey Webber, John Meschino, Samuel Conkle, Jacob Straughn, Leighton Conkle, Nathan Meschino, Jazmine Tinker, Heather Whitehead, and Savannah Goff; great-grandchildren, Faith Morgan, Grace Morgan, Serenity Morgan, Kaydence Hutchins, Gracelynn Goff, and Jaxson Goff.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the funeral home chapel. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

STEVEN WADE
Steven Ryan Wade, 41, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022.
Steven was born Oct. 27, 1981, to Steve Wade and Johnnie Sullivan. Steven had a heart of gold with a fierce love and loyalty to his family and friends. His most treasured memories were spent with his son, Damian. They both lived with Nana and Pa on their farm. They spent time fishing, talking, and laughing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Damian Blaze Wade.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Marites Wade, Scott and Johnnie Sullivan; brother, Dustin Shea Wade; grandparents, Leon and Gail Wade, Henry and Beth Greenwood; cousin, Zoey Wade.
A Celebration Life will be Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m., ET at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from noon until the service hour.

VIRGINIA WHITE
Virginia Seymour White, 88, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022.
Mrs. White was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and later, Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Shaw Industries. She loved to cook for her family and could make anything grow.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ida Patton; husbands, George Seymour and Gordon White; brothers, R.B., Raymond, Jay Thomas, and James Ray Patton; sisters, Linnie Mae Scott, Mildred Barnett, Edna Killian, and Ruby Patton.
Survivors include her sons, Bill (Vickie) Seymour and Mike (Kathy) Seymour; grandchildren, Jamie, Jody and Ethan (Rachael) Seymour, Cindy (Jory) Sullivan, Adrienne (Tian) Ross, and Morgan (Micah) Brooks; great-grandchildren, Donnie and Ashlee Wallin and Halle and Norah Ross; sister-in-law, Hylma Patton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 26 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Patton and Rev. Charles Underwood officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Ethan Seymour, Jory Sullivan, Donnie Sullivan, Tian Ross, Micah Brooks, and Wallace White were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jamie and Jody Seymour.
