LORETTA CASTLEBERRY
Loretta Castleberry, 87, of Rising Fawn, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022.
She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and loved her church community of Rising Fawn Baptist Church. She was a member of the Esther Sunday School class and a graduate of Dade County High School, class of 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Castleberry; parents, Frank and Sadie Colston Davis; son, Charles Castleberry; grandson, Dennis Clay Castleberry; sister, Gladys Middleton.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Skip) Garmany, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons, Calvin Castleberry, Coalmont, Tenn., Randy and Dennis Castleberry, both of Rising Fawn; grandchildren, Sabrina (Tim) Bray, Michael (Crystal) Castleberry, Starla (Jay) Hodge, Anthony Castleberry and Erin Garmany; several great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Davis, Pelham, Ala.; sisters, Mable Thompson, Soddy Daisy, Tenn., and Velma Allen of Texas; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 26 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Billy Wallace officiating. Interment was in Deer Head Cove Cemetery.

ROY GENTRY
James Roy Gentry, 79, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022.
He enjoyed going to church, singing “Just Any Day Now”, and being with his family. He received the Holy Ghost July 24, 1986, and was a member of Higdon Holiness Church. Roy worked as a crane operator, a cabinet maker for Brother Eugene Gamble and retired from Dixie Yarn where he fixed machines.
He was preceded in death by his son, “Benji” Roy Gentry; parents, Newton Gentry and Julia Oma Davis Gentry; brothers, Robert Gentry and Richard Gentry; three infant brothers; parents-in-law, James and Tibb Whitley; brother and sister-in-law, John Willard and Jewell Dean Whitley.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Faye Gentry; daughter, Rita Gentry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oron and JessieMae Whitley and Bithal and Darlene Whitley; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank his hospice care workers, Charlotte Turner, Carolyn Short, Leah LaHayne and everyone that has brought food and coming for visits.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., ET today, July 27 at Higdon Holiness Church with Reverend Edwin Spurgeon officiating.
The family will receive friends and family today from 11 a.m. until 2:p.m., ET at Higdon Holiness Church. The family requests that masks be worn.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park

SARAH DAFFRON
Sarah F. Daffron, 72, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daffron; sister, Cathy Darlene Daughtery; brother, William Barney Daughtery; half-sister, Diane Frizzle; parents, Graden and Effie Daughtery.
Survivors include her son, Carl Daffron; siblings, George (Jayne) Daughtery, Annie Daffron, Charlotte (Mac) McPherson, Donna Jones, Emma (Glenn) Barton, Sheila (Jessie) Young, and Shena (David) Roberts; nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 23rd in the funeral home chapel with. Interment was in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, Tenn. Chaplain Ricky Studdard officiated.

BRENDA PRINCE
Brenda Joyce Prince, 59, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Brenda was retired from Prince Express, Inc., of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Pocahontas Chapter #165 Order of the Eastern Star, Rossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Edward Prince, Sr., and Joyce Ann Wilson Prince Carruth.
Survivors include her daughter, Wendy (Marcus Herbie) Smith, Rocky Face; son, Rickey D. Jeffery and wife Betty L. Deke of Dalton; step-son, Danny Linkel; seven grandchildren; sisters, Maxine (Perry) Schwark, Trenton, Cindy (Gary) Keck, Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Tammy Holt, Jasper, Tenn., Rena (William) Hunnicutt, Trenton, Nyoka Laxton, Clearwater, Fla., and Schilo (John) Lampe, Lake Helen, Fla.; brothers, Chester Edward Prince, Jr., Trenton, Curtis (Kristy) Carruth, Bryant, Ala., and Rennie Martin of Idaho; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 24th in the funeral home chapel. Interment was in the B.J. Prince Cemetery in Murphy Hollow.

PAUL PUGH
Paul Roger Pugh, 71, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Monday, July 18, 2022.
He was born Oct.19, 1950, in Monroe, the son of the late Lester Paul and Margarett Brown Pugh. Some of his favorite accomplishments included his first job at Perry Garrett’s Barbeque in Monroe, attending veterinarian classes at the University of Georgia and working on the MARTA Rail System in Atlanta during its inaugural years. He also worked as a collision and auto body repairman for DeKalb County, Ga. during his younger years. After moving to the Chattanooga, Tenn., area, he worked as a carpenter and delivery driver for Flav-O-Rich Milk until he opened his own collision and body repair shop. On Oct. 6, 1990, he married the love of his life, Karen Tuttle Pugh. In his spare time, he was a talented artist who was able to convey a person’s personality in his pencil sketches. He also picked and strummed tunes on his accoustic Yamaha guitar. Many songs were created as he sang along.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Jerry Lee Pugh; father-in-law, Jack Tuttle; brother-in-law, Jackie Tuttle.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Tuttle Pugh; daughter, Clarissa (Lee) Pugh-Ventura of Monroe; grandchildren, Lydia, Kaylei, Jordan, and Matrix; nephews, Justin (Hollie), Andrew (Kristin), Charlie, Anthony, and Nathanial; mother-in-law, Louise Middleton; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Karen), Brian; half-brother, Stoney Byrd; lifelong friend, Tommy Phillips.

VIRGINIA RAINES
Virginia Jo Raines, 71, of Wildwood, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Mrs. Raines was a faithful caregiver to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert M. Raines and Donnie C. Burrage; daughter, Glenda L. Raines; parents, Lonnie and Ledell Drew; brothers, Eddie, Billy, and Rocky Drew.
Survivors include her brother, Ardell (Donna) Drew, Ft. Oglethorpe; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Friday, July 22 at Sarah’s Chapel Cemetery.

VARNELL SMITH
Vernon Varnell Smith, 75, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022.
He gave his life to Jesus at Sand Mountain Methodist Church and joined Trenton United Methodist Church in 1972. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War (E5) and was awarded several medals and four bronze service stars. Vern was a member of VFW, Scottsboro, Ala., a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and women’s softball team with the church. He enjoyed shark fishing off Jekyll Island, fishing in bass tournaments, working in his tool shed, farming with his tractor, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Dovie Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Smith; son, Vernon Varnell Smith, Jr. (Clarissa); granddaughter, Adyson Nellie Smith; sister, Glenda Grace Starnes; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, July 27, at noon at Trenton United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Flaugher officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 until noon at the church.

DALE STEELE
Dale Woodrow Steele, 74, of Trenton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2022.
He was the best husband, Dad, and Poppy a family could be gifted. He loved sports and coaching the young people of Dade County in softball, baseball, and football. However, he loved being Poppy most of all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Charlsie Steele.
Survivors include his wife, Sheron Steele; daughter, Autumn (Justin) Sigler; granddaughter, Mackenzie; sisters, Virginia Steele, Delilah (Danny) Walden of Trenton, Martha (Butch) Layman of Rainsville, Ala.; brothers, Nelson Steele, Louis (Barb) Steele; lifelong friend, Buckshot.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 28 at 11 a.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Trenton Chapel Wednesday, July 27 from 4–8; Thursday 10 –11 a.m.

SHERRIE SUTTON
Sherrie Joanna Sutton, 80, of Trenton, passed away Wedneday, July 20, 2022.
She was born March 7, 1942 to the late Joseph Thomas and Leila Lee Trehern. Sherrie loved taking walks and riding her bike to enjoy some of the beautiful views that surround her home. She enjoyed having company and would prepare the most bountiful feasts. She kept and tended gorgeous flower beds and always had vegetables and fruits out of her garden ready to go. She was always generous with all that she had and was a very special mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Sutton; sister, Hazel H. Stevens; brothers, Thomas Alton Trehern, Carl Homer Trehern, and Jim Trehern.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Johnson; son, Roger Johnson; grandchildren, Kristina Schultz, Alexis Johnson, Justin Johnson, Emilie Barr, and Cate Barr; sister, Delilah (Susie) Lee Ervin; brother, Joe Trehern; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 26 at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Eddie Cantrell officiating. Interment was at National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tenn.

MARY WILSON
Mrs. Mary Leah Roles Wilson, 92, of East Ridge, Tenn., passed away Friday, July 22, 2022.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Gallitzin, Penn.,, on Jan. 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Charles James Roles and Anna Moran Roles. She retired from AT&T as a toll operator. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed knitting, crochet, word puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Wilson, Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzie and Charlie Weigel; great-grandson, Cole Sutton; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Lester “Butch” Wilson, Jr. (Pam); daughter, Nancy Rhodes (Randy); grandchildren, Annie Sandlin (Steve), Joshua Weigel (Emily), Lauren Fortson (Sam), Jason Sutton (Carrie), Chris Weigel, Luke Sutton (Linda), and Ashley Johnson (Casey); great-grandchildren, Josh Sandlin, Aaron Rhodes, Paige Sandlin, Ben Sutton, Caitlin Cash, Lee Cash, Harper Sandlin, Alexis Sutton, Jamie Sutton, Jared Sutton, Nathan Clements, and Daniel Clements.
A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, July 26 at Heritage Chapel with Perry Wilson officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joshua Weigel, Chris Weigel, Sam Fortson, Casey Johnson, Jason Sutton, and Luke Sutton.
