JOYCE BARKLEY
Joyce W. Barkley, 86, of Bryant, Ala., passed away June 13, 2022.
She was born Sept. 7, 1935, to James and Essie Willmon. Joyce loved to travel and took many pictures of her travels and family. She attended Sequatchie Valley Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, J. T. Barkley and sister, Betty Fossett.
Survivors include her sisters, Jodie Blevins, Evelyn (Dorayne) Stephens, Inez Green, Kathy (Eddie) Cuzzort; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 16 at the Bryant chapel with Brother Rodney Stephens officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

BRUCE DOCKERY
Bruce Verlin Dockery, 70, of New Salem passed Friday, June 17, 2022.
Bruce was born Nov.5, 1951, to the late Owen and Senith Dockery. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and cutting firewood. He was member of New Salem Baptist Church and retired from J&J Contractors of Chattanooga, Tenn., after 40 years of service. Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Greta Murphy and brother in-laws, Junior and Ralph Murphy.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Dockery; sons, Jeremiah (Mandi) Dockery and Daniel Dockery; sister, Wanda Murphy; brother, Wayne (Mary) Dockery; grandchildren, Katie and Ryder Dockery; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 21 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton with Brother Jim Hixon and Jim Blaylock officiating. Interment was at Hawkins Cemetery.

MITZI MERRITT
Mitzi Kaye Merritt, 67, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022.
Mitzi was born Nov. 14, 1954 in Flat Rock, Ala., to the late Alvin and Ollie Mae Gass. She retired after a long career as a registered nurse. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Steven Merritt; son, Tillman Merritt; brothers, Danny Gass and Jimmy Kessler; and sister, Frieda Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Summer (Eric) Morgan; sister, Rhonda (Raymond) Higginbotham; and grandchildren, Anniston Hosea, Zariah Hughes and Kiera Hughes.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 21 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton with Brother Tran Sisk officiating. Interment was at Brown Gap Cemetery.

HERBERT MIDDLEBROOKS, SR.
Herbert Ray Middlebrooks, Sr., 86, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022.
A longtime resident of Dade County, Herbert was born July 5, 1935, to Vernon W. and Esther Pell Middlebrooks in Fort Payne, Ala. When he was a child, his parents moved to Lookout Mountain, near the Chattanooga area, where Herbert would spend the majority of his childhood and teen years. In 1956, Herbert married Helon Justus; and they had five children Monica, Herbert Jr. “Herbie”, Chris, Maronica, and Daniel. He was a loving father who worked hard to provide for his family and always kept them in church and surrounded by people who would be positive influences in their lives. He was a natural salesman with an entrepreneurial spirit and worked in various business ventures throughout his life and continued to dabble in some type of sales well past retirement. At the age of 58 Herbert, who had spent his life attending church with his family and doing everything he could to help people in every possible way, received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at Griffin Free Holiness Church on Lookout Mountain where he and Helon were members. Herbert, with Helon at his side, traveled thousands of miles each year going from church to church, laboring in altar calls and sharing his inspiring testimony of salvation. He loved going to church and traveling the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ester Middlebrooks and brother, Roy Middlebrooks.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helon Middlebrooks; children, Monica (Tim) Cardin, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Herbert (Sheila) Middlebrooks, Jr., Murfreesboro, Tenn., Chris (Lora) Middlebrooks, Hazel Green, Ala., Maronica (Kevin) Blackmon, Davenport, Fla., Daniel (Sonya) Middlebrooks, Trenton; grandchildren, Brandy Cardin, LeAnne (Michael) Bridges, Haley (Bradley) Pritchett, Kyle (Amy) Middlebrooks, Scott (Tyree) Middlebrooks, Beth (Cody) Owens, Andrew Middlebrooks, Kelsey Le’ Blackmon, Avery (Lynzie) Blackmon, Brandon (Katie) Middlebrooks, Emma Middlebrooks and Elisabeth Middlebrooks; 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; honorary Middlebrooks Tina Haney; brothers, Troy (JoAnn) Middlebrooks and Terry (Barbara) Middlebrooks; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 18 at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Guffey and Brother Warren Langley officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

SANDRA ORANGE
Sandra L. Orange, 80, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Sandra was of the Baptist faith and was a former employee of Sather’s in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and served as a past state president.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Omar Orange.
Survivors include several cousins and her “heart sister” Alberta (Fred) Anderson.
Graveside services were Monday, June 20 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, Tenn.

VIRGINIA STEVENSON
Virginia Ferguson Stevenson, 96, of Trenton, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022.
Virginia was a founding member of New Home Baptist Church and worked as a hairdresser in Trenton for many years. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Gideon’s. Virginia loved to travel and had many adventures. Her hospitality was unrivaled.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.A. and Eula Stallings; first spouse, Eldridge Ferguson; grandson, Ben Gibson; sister, Hazel Dunn; great-grandson, Chandler Wallace; second spouse, Jim Stevenson; and son-in-law, Ron Gibson.
Survivors include her children, Pat (Verdell) McBryar, Martha “Marti” Gibson, and Brent (Jackie) Ferguson; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and more extended family.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 18 at New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Wooten, Rev. Josh Parham, and Rev. Horace Turner officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

SCOTT SULLIVAN
James “Scott” Sullivan, 39, passed away June 2, 2022, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
He was a 2001 graduate of Dade County High School. He was a loving father, son, and brother. He enjoyed life, family members, and many friends. Scott was always there to brighten the lives of others. Hehad a contagious smile, everyone around him loved him and he had a passion for helping those in need.
He is survived by his two children Braylon and Brynna Sullivan; his mother, Debbie (Teddy) Holland; father, Jimmy (Laura) Sullivan; grandmother, Levoda Sullivan and Joyce (Robert) True; sisters, Brandy (Brandon) Weldon, and Audrey (Joe) Abernathy; brothers, Charles (Tabby) Sullivan, Eric (Emily) Holland, Josh (Bethany) Tyeryar; nieces and nephews, Trent, Jaycee, Raygan, Olivia, and Taven; aunt, Roni (Rickey) Casey; uncles Max (Marjie), Turk and Jeff (Brenda) Sullivan; many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Max “Mose” Sullivan and Raymond “Bud” Daniels; aunt, Pat Cagle; uncle, Ray Daniels
