ARVILLE HURST

Reverend Arville Franklin Hurst, 89, of Trenton passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 after battling dementia for three years.

He was born on July 27, 1932, to the late Lloyd and Myrtle (Holland) Hurst. Rev. Hurst faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class. He was a well known minister who evangelized and pastored in the Church of God for more than 60 years. He pastored churches in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. Arville and his twin brother, Marville “Barney” Hurst, would often hold revivals together throughout the area. Rev. Hurst spent his life working for God and helping people.  He loved his family and his church family.  He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his twin brother and his preacher brethren.

addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Barney (Jean) Hurst; sister, Adele (Bill) Nelson; son, James “Jack” Hurst; and son-in-law, Robert Harbaugh.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Peggy Wilson Hurst; daughters, Marcia Harbaugh and Andrea (Clarence) Wright; daughter-in-law, Joyce (Dan) Huddleston; grandchildren, Julia Harbaugh, Jennifer (Chad) Comstock, Jameson (Lesley) Hurst, Candace Harbaugh, Alecia Pollard, Robert (Taylor) Harbaugh, Krystal Harbaugh, Ashley Ford; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was Tuesday, April 26 at Moore Funeral Home with Bishop Clayton Privett officiating. Interment was at Shantytown Cemetery.
