The New Home Fire Department battled a brush fire on Ivy Road on Wednesday, March 30. The fire quickly spread due to high winds and damaged a single-family home, three vehicles, adjacent property structures, and about seven acres of land. No one was injured. Trenton-Dade, Trenton-Dade Explorers, North Dade, Davis and South Dade Fire Departments assisted. Georgia Forestry and Dade County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene. “We thank the members and other departments from Dade County for the assistance. Without the teamwork and the passion this event could have been more damaging to the homeowners and property owners,” New Home Fire Chief Dennis Kelley said.
