JIMMY AIKEN
James “Jimmy” W. Aiken Sr., 80, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Monday, March 14, 2022.
Jimmy was born to Lizzie and Melvin Aiken on Sept. 12, 1941 in Creedmoor, N.C. He was a true friend to those he met through life and a loving, caring special man to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce Vaughn Aiken; children, Annette Aiken Briggs, Lynne Aiken High and James Aiken, Jr.; grandchildren, Shane Briggs, Wesley Aiken, Jessica Aiken and Katelyn Aiken of Bryant, Ala., Andrew Moore of Durham, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Haleigh Aiken and Eli Moore; brother in-law, Ronnie (Alice) Vaughn; sister in-law, Denise (Jim) McKinnon; sisters, Patty Neal and Mary Whitman; and special loving aunt, Hazel Strickland.
A memorial service will be Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m., ET at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bryant, Ala. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

DEAN ALLISON
Robert Dean Allison, 79, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Dean was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Stevenson, Ala., to the late Jesse and Patty Allison. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, retired from Boilermakers Local 454 and a former Worshipful Master of the Sand Mountain Masonic Lodge #920.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dama Lee Jackson; and brothers, Telford, Ray and Perry Don Allison.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rubye Louise Allison; daughters, Gwendolyn (Deon) Allison-Wooten and Christy (Mike) Whitaker; son, Matthew (Carissa) Allison; brothers, Wilson (Judy) Allison and Jack (Patsy) Allison; grandchildren, Jesse (Katie) Wooten, Courtney (Seth) Owens, and Grayson Allison; great-grandson, Ephram Gowens; brothers in-law, Sam (Nelda) Whited, Ernest (Linda) Whited, Donald (Pat) Whited and Manuel (Connie) Whited.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 20 at the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Whited Cemetery.

THELMA AVANS
Thelma Jean Avans, 82, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Thelma was born to the late Will and Anna West on April 8, 1939.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by husbands, Gene Bynum and Sherman Avans; and siblings, Johnny West, Elmo West, Leona Wood, Denzil West, Wilburn West, O’Dell West, Viola West and Virginia Gilman.
She is survived by her daughter, Sabra (Darren Gentle) Long; sons, Chris (Lisa) Bynum and Steve (Rodenna) Avans; grandchildren, Dusty Winters, Celeste Winters, Donte’ (Chrissy) Winters, Noah Bynum, and Stephanie (Curtis) Wright; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 22 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, Interment was in Brown Gap Cemetery.

DEBRA CASTLEBERRY
Debra Ann Castleberry, 71, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.
Debra was born April 29, 1950, to the late Mary and W.C. Wilbanks Jr. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Castleberry and son, Bruce Castleberry.
Survivors include her daughters, Toni Rene (Anthony) Sorrells and Penny Lynn Fulton; sister, Kathy (Larry) Spears; grandchildren, Chris Castleberry, Jessica Harden, Jamey Sorrells, Trevor Fulton, Ashley Fulton, Shana Castleberry, and Shaun Castleberry; nine great-grandchildren.

BOBBY CHITWOOD
Robert Charles “Bobby” Chitwood, 64, of Trenton, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.
An avid outdoorsman, Bobby grew up hunting and fishing with friends and their fathers. Once they were old enough, he took great pride in enjoying his hobbies with his own sons, teaching them how to responsibly enjoy nature. Bobby wasn’t an athlete in his younger years, but he took interest in whatever sports his sons were playing. He helped coach baseball, learned about basketball, and made a short-lived attempt at golf. Bobby was a collector. He had more shoes and shirts than his wife. He liked watches, arrowheads, steering wheels, fishing poles, guns, and pocket knives. More than anything, he collected friends. He knew someone everywhere he went. He took pride in relationships and was most proud of his growing family.
Funeral services were Monday, March 21 at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Trenton Baptist Cemetery.

GREG HIGDON
Gregory Levon Higdon, 57, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
He was born to the late Marlon Higdon and Prinel Avans Batey on June 30, 1964. Greg was such a blessing to all who knew him. A big man with a big heart that could brighten a room with his smile and jolly laugh, jokes he played and pranks he pulled. If you were his friend, you had a friend for life. He loved fast cars, shooting pool and most of all his fur-babies.
In addition to his parents, Greg was predeceased by sister, Melissa Marsh.
He is survived by his son, Josh Higdon; sister, Peggy Wortman; nephews, Ryan and Ray Bryant; nieces, Brittney Williams and Chantay Lay.

James “Jim” “Poppy” Jones, 74, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Jim was born July 25, 1947, to the late Henry Jones and Joyce Kelly. He was a proud veteran of the United State Marine Corps and honorably served our country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Straightway Baptist Church in Bryant, Ala., where he loved to praise the Lord. Jim was a wonderful cook and worked as a chef for many years. He loved his family and had a nickname for everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Candace Flinchum.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gail “Beautiful” Jones; daughter, Missy “Kitten” Jones; sons, Craig “Bubba” Shelton (Melissa “Priss”) and Daniel “Ryan” Jones (Treston “Trissy”); sister, Connie Jones; brother, Donnie Kelly; grandchildren, Casey “C.J.” Shelton, LeAnne “Princess” Edward, Jackie “Sweetheart” Jones, Trevor “Jimmy” McClendon, Danielle “Cupcake” Jones, Shadda “Wiggles” Jones and Devin “Sport” Jones.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 19 at Straightway Baptist Church in Bryant with Brother Gary Bone officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

PAULA TREMAYNE
Paula Kay Clark Tremayne, 58, of Trenton, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022.
Born to Leonard Paul Clark, Sr., and Kathleen Jeanette Clark on May 15, 1963, in Chattanooga, Tenn., she spent her childhood and young life in the Chattanooga area and graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1981. Paula spent the last 22 years in the medical field. She helped found Retina Consults, PC in 1999 and culminated her career as the Administrator for Southeastern Retina Associates in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was married June 20, 2015, to Danny Tremayne. They resided on Sand Mountain.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Louise Sims.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Tremayne and his son, Michael Tremayne; siblings, Janet Ann Pell, Barbara Jane Grimes (Brian Grimes, Sr.), Kathy L. Breazeale (Richard Breazeale, MD), and Leonard Paul Clark, Jr. (Leslie Clark); nephews and nieces; Wendy, Tim and Tabitha (children of Irene), Chris and Josh (children of Janet), Christina and Samuel (children of Barbara and Brian), Noah, Jacob and Thomas (children of Kathy and Richard), and Trey (son of Paul and Leslie).
Funeral services were Friday March 18 in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Gary McDade and Jason McDade officiating. Interment was at Brown Gap Cemetery.
