The City of Trenton Board of Commissioners hired April Keith as the new city clerk after an hour-long executive session during a special called meeting on Friday, Jan. 14,
Keith started the position Tuesday, Jan. 18, after former clerk Russanna Jenkins resigned.
“April has been working as a part-time employee for a solid year with us, and off and on since 2018,” Mayor Alex Case said. “She recently certified as a city court clerk.”
Previously, Keith has worked in public safety and at the Dade County Sheriff’s Office.
“I am definitely looking forward to the job. I know everyone here. I think it’s going to be fun,” Keith said.
Jenkins has worked as Trenton’s City Clerk since 2019. Jenkins is returning to her former position in Rossville.
“I am super excited about going back to Rossville. I was there for 19 years before coming [to Trenton.] My advice for April is to try to not do it all in one day. The wheels of government turn slowly. Just try to not overwhelm yourself,” Jenkins said.
Will definitely miss Jenkins
