Renew Your Vehicle Registrations Early

Dade County Tax Commissioner Angie Galloway told citizens during the weekly county update that there would be a motor vehicle services scheduled system outage from Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. through Jan. 3. Services will be unavailable both in-person and online.

Galloway asked that everyone please renew their vehicle registrations early to avoid delays.

In related news, the Department of Driver Services has listed their 2022 schedule for Trenton, which can be found online at https://www.dadecounty-ga.gov/CivicAlerts

Also during the county update, Dade County Library Manager Mindy Haworth informed community members about ongoing events at the library.

Families are invited to come to the Ready to Read Story Time, each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Also, the library’s book club meets each third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

Haworth also said that there would be a new Pop-Up Library. People can request the Pop-Up Library to come to their event, for free, by emailing popup@chrl.org.

County Executive Ted Rumley noted that the concrete pouring of the Rising Fawn storm shelter location should be ready after Christmas. The Sand Mountain location will be prepared after the New Year. The storm shelters have the space to hold approximately 265 people.

Dade County has seen 48 cases in the past two weeks, for a total of 1,909 COVID-19 cases.

There is free COVID-19 testing every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Colonnade in Ringgold.

“The numbers are up. I hate to say that” Rumley said. “The national numbers are going back up. Just try to be careful.”

Public Information Officer Carey Anderson informed citizens that the Dade County Administrative Building is looking to hire a custodian. To apply, visit dadecounty-ga.gov.

Dade County Offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 23, Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. The recycling and waste transfer station will be open until noon on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.
