KAREN ABBOTT
Karen Michelle Abbott, 49, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2021.
She was a loving mother, daughter and sister that enjoyed movies and going to casinos. Karen loved to pick at her kids. Christmas was her favorite time of year.
She was preceded in death by her father, Waymon Abbott and infant brother, Timothy Abbott.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessica Corriher; sons, Jacob Corriher and Josh Abbott; mother, Betty Abbott; sisters, Sheila Wood and Cynthia Gravitt; brothers, Lester Abbott, Melvin Abbott, and Randy Abbott; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be today, Dec.15 at noon in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Luke Camlic officiating. Burial will follow in Hawkins Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m., until noon today.

MARGARET ADKINS
Margaret Jane Adkins, 81, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Jane loved her family, her friends and her church family. But more importantly, she loved Jesus. She had a heart for serving others and was involved in the Samaritan Purse Box Ministries, homeless ministries and contributed to the Bangla Hope Ministries. She was a faithful member of the Floral Crest SDA Church and active in the Floral Crest SDA School. Her contributions/jobs at the church and school are too numerous to mention and each brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Adkins; son, Adam Adkins; parents Rich and Jessie Morgan; brothers, Malcolm, Troy, Talmadge, Leonard, Leon and James; sisters, Katherine, Veneda Ann, and Wanda.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynnette (Jeff) Stewart and Kim Adkins; sister, Pat Morgan; brothers, Roy (Janice) Morgan and Malcolm (Wanda) Morgan.
A memorial service was Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Floral Crest SDA School with Pastor Jason Carlson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Floral Crest School.

MATTIE BARRON
Mattie Belle Spence Barron, 90, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021.
She was born April 21, 1931, in Marion, S.C.
With the impending arrival of her first child, Anne, Mattie resigned her commission as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, where she had served as a nurse. She and her husband Larry, a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF, then lived in a variety of Air Force bases around the world: Japan, Germany, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas. During her husband’s service in Vietnam, she continued her career as a nurse in Marion, S.C., and then as an oncology nurse in San Antonio, Texas, where Larry ended his career at Lackland Air Force base. They finished their time together on Lookout Mountain, enjoying life with their grandchildren. During her time on Lookout Mountain, Mattie was a faithful member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, which continued its support through her frequent and loving visitors, Paul and Lynn Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Spence; brothers, Bryan and Tom; parents, Samuel Alexander Cleveland Spence and Ida Irene Bryan Spence.
Survivors include her daughters, Anne (Jim) and Beth; brother, Palmer (Betty); brother-in-law, Wayne (Lamae); sister-in-law, Rita; grandchildren, Mary (Myko), James, Sarah Spence, and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Henry and Elliott.
The family wishes to thank the folks at Garden Plaza of Greenbriar Cove, her sitters from Right-at-Home (Tabitha, Brenda, Gwen, Kierra, Shawanna, and Damary), and the good folks at Hospice of Chattanooga.
A graveside service was Thursday, Dec. 23 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

NANCY COX
Nancy Ruthe Jackson Cox, 75, of Trenton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021.
Originally from the Flintstone area, she had lived in Winter Haven, Fla., until her and her husband John moved back to north Georgia in 2019. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Trenton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Miles Sr. and Geneva Jackson; and sister, Pat Crampton.
Survivors include her husband of over 30 years John Cox; children, Lisa (Kenneth) Bishop, Matthew (Michelle) Cooke, Tammy (Cary) Thompson, Tyra (Robert Croft) Rodgers; siblings, Cynthia (Robert) Cooke, Miles (Brenda) Jackson Jr.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Dec. 21 in the Ft. Oglethorpe chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Louis Rouse officiating.
Internment was in Lakewood South Memory Gardens in Rossville.

NELSON DAVIS
Robert Nelson Davis, 91, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021.
Nelson was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Wildwood to the late Robert and Lorene Davis. He was a welder by trade and was an excellent mechanic. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Davis; son, Lloyd Nelson Davis; and brother, Billy Davis.
Survivors include his children, Jerry (Vonda) Davis, Barbara Solomon and Nancy Smith; sister, Dorothy (Kenny) Clevenger; brother, Gene Davis; seven grandchildren, and five great–grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 17 in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother David Smith and David Plank officiating. Burial was in Hooker Cemetery.

BRANDON HELMES
James Brandon Helmes, 31, of Ringgold, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021.
Brandon loved playing video games. He was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Gladys Helmes; great-grandparents, Barney and Elvia Kilgore, and aunt, Shurea Helmes.
Survivors include his parents, Eddie and Shannon Helmes; sisters, Sherry Helmes and Angela Helmes; grandparents, Eddie and Mary Gilliam; nephews, Nathan Lyons, Jason Lyons, and Dustin Hughes; aunts and uncles, Bobby Cantrell, Arlo Gilliam, Marcie Gilliam Patzer, James and Mary Helmes, Scott and Melissa Helmes, and William Helmes; several cousins.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

SHIRLEY HICKS
Shirley Anne Hicks, 85, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport for 53 years and was retired from the Fortwood Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by her children, Steve Hicks, Craig Hicks, and Vicky Hicks; brother, Gilbert Alsobrooks.
Survivors include the love of her life, Harold Poteet of Trenton; children, Cindy Brown of Bridgeport, AL, and Greg (Tonya) Poteet of Ringgold; siblings, Jackie Wyatt, Sharon (Tom) Stewart, and Donald Wyatt; several grand and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Sunday, Dec. 19 at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Pastor Todd Lint officiating.

WILLARD STEPHENS
Willard Burless Stephens, 84, of Trenton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.
Mr. Stephens was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Willard was preceded in death by parents, Dock and Vennie Avans Stephens; brothers, C.W. Stephens, L.J. Stephens, Doyle Stephens and sisters, Amalee Price and Waveloee Phillips.
Survivors his daughter, Tamara (Corky) Buckels; sisters, Maxlee (Burnlee) Christopher, Cleta (Larry) Kirby, and Gayla (David) Fowler; brothers, Wayne Stephens and Dorayne (Evelyn) Stephens; grandchildren, Amanda (Robert) Murray and Dale Delay; three great-grandsons.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec.20, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Dewayne Porter officiating. Interment was in Gib Dock Stephens Cemetery.

LARRY STOCKMAN
Larry Stockman, 62, of Trenton, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2021.
Larry enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo, and coloring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Eva Pauline Stockman; sisters, Lou Ella Etheridge, Lucille Miles, and Mary Lou Childress; brothers, Woodrow and Buford Stockman.
Survivors include his sisters, Louise Tishaw, Etta Lou Powell, Bonnie Shull, and Martha Holcomb; brothers, Kenneth, Donald, abd Rachel Leon Stockman.
