BEN BAKER
Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Baker, “Gramps,” 73, of Rising Fawn, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021.
He was born in Trion, on Feb. 12, 1948 to the late Hazel Willingham and Alford Seaborn Baker. Ben was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that enjoyed boating, traveling, hunting, fishing, golf, and football. He was of the Baptist faith. The love of country was deep in his spirit. He earned the Eagle Scout Award and upon graduation from Trion High School and Dalton State College. Ben served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by special loved ones, Mary and Jack Shropshire.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Jamie Baker; children, Seab Baker (Bonnie), Maggie Horton (Bob), Brian Harvey (Jan), Cedric Garner (Tonya), and Franklin Harvey (Susan); grandchildren, Courtney Oaks, David Harvey, Sydney Harvey, Kayley Harvey, Chelsea Harvey, Zeke Baker, Riley Horton, Silas Baker, Cade Horton, Cali Baker, Ellie Horton, Clayton Harvey, Ruby Baker, and Judah Baker, six great-grandchildren; cousins.
A graveside service will be Thursday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m., at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today, Sept. 22 from 4–8 p.m., at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

JERRY CARTER
Jerry Clyde Carter, 82, of Flat Rock, Ala. Passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, after a year–long battle with lukemia.
He was born to the late Ernest William and Mary Ida Medlock Carter in Jackson County and lived most of his life in the north Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. Jerry was in the roofing and construction business for more than 20 years and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Christopher Carter; children, Jerry “Buddy” (Tammy) Carter Jr., Jayme (Tommy) Simms and Jeanne (Isam) Ali; step-sons, Curtis (Amy) Gordy and Kendall (Ashley) Christopher; sisters, Jan Casteel and Carol Tigue; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren ; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 4 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Brad Talley officiating.
Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.

Alisha Redette Cook, age 62, of Bryant, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lorene Scott; daughter, Halie Price and brother, Mike Scott.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Randy Cook; sisters, Debra (Roger) McCarty, Phyllis Thomas; granddaughter, Greenlee Swafford.

BONNIE GENTRY
Bonnie Ellen Gentry, age 59, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister that enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and dogs, going to the beach and the Smokies. Bonnie attended Safe Haven Baptist Church in South Pittsburg.
Survivors include her daughters, Cassie (Daniel) Tucker and Tristaca Gentry; grandchildren, Dylan Gentry, Harley Tucker, Illiana, Jaydra, and Kalissia Gentry; sisters, Charlotte (Jr.) Mitchell, Belinda (Johnny) Anderson, Becky Whitley; brothers, Billy (Tura) Whitley and Brian (Toni) Whitley; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert Wendell Glover, 81, of Dalton, passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
He was born in Long Island, Ala., and raised in Bryant, Ala. Robert loved his family and country and proudly served in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Lee McKaig Glover; parents, Woodrow and Velma Glover; brother, Charles Glover.
Survivors include his children, Jeff Glover and wife Kimberly, David and wife Magda; grandchildren, Blake Glover and fiancee Kristina Dickinson, Alison Glover and fiancee Irvin Villalobos, and Brandon Thurman; sister, Barbara Castleberry and husband Ronnie.

GWENDOLYN MCBRYAR
Gwendolyn Vonda McBryar, 87, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021.
She was born October 21, 1933, to the late Myron and Delia Crisp Gass in Trenton. Gwendolyn loved to travel, garden and socialize. She owned and operated Mac’s Beverage and Video store. Gwendolyn also previously worked for Dupont in Chattanooga, Tenn., for 15 years and at Senior Citizens Recreation Center in Trenton. She was a member of Sand Mountain United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Delia Crisp Gass; husband, Doyle Lloyd McBryar; sisters, June Gass, and Myrna Gass Kesler; brothers, Keith and Dwight Gass.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Doyle; sons, Kirkland (Lorie Waters) McBryar, and Michael McBryar (Lauren Harris); brothers, Maurice (Eva) Gass, Darrell Gass, and Benny (Carolyn Sutton) Gass; grandchildren, Richard C. (Rick) Doyle, Jr., Dakota McBryar, Annick McBryar, Brittney McBryar Brown, and Cameron McBryar; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service was Friday, Sept. 17 at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Trenton with Pastor Guinn Green officiating.

RICKEY MELHORN
Rickey Lee Melhorn , 63, of Kensington, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021.
He was a hard-working man who thoughtfully cared for horses, cattle, and more on his family farm. His careful eye for detail and work ethic made him recognized as one of the top auto body repair and restoration experts in the country. Rickey was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife Sheila; son, Josh Melhorn; granddaughter; daughter Lyndse Martinelli (Daniel); granddaughter and grandson; sisters, Cathy and Vicki; step-daughter, Amber; and three step grandsons; dad, Arthur Roger Melhorn; mother, Barbara Joyce (Burnette) Mauer; step-dad, Arthur Eugene Mauer.
Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m., at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

BEVERLY GAIL PEMBERTON
Beverly Gail Pemberton, 73, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.
Born Dec. 30, 1948, she was an at home caregiver for the elderly and was a member of Battlefield of Life Worship Center in Rock Spring. Beverly had an abounding love that reached way beyond her family. She devoted her life to the care of others and it came from a humble servant’s heart that loved Jesus above all.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandy Dineese, and parents, Norma and Eddie Harris Smith
Survivors include by husband, Pete Pemberton; children, Joe (Stephanie) Pemberton, Lyn (Michelle) Pemberton, Renae Mckenzie, and Ronda (Earl) Seelye; sisters: Sandra Wilson, Latricia Rochester, and Patricia Hancock; brothers, Leamon, Eddie, and Jim Smith; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Nancy Jean Duncan Rider, 66, of Dayton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021.
Nancy was a vivacious and caring person who deeply loved her family. She was most proud of her work as a long-distance truck driver. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Allen Rider; parents, Georgia and Jack Duncan; sisters, Brenda, Linda and Jackie.
Survivors include her children, Tim (Maura) Duncan of Dayton, Tenn., and Casey (Brittany) Rider of Dunlap, Tenn.; sister, Pat (Wendell) Gordy of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, John (Ronda) Duncan of Red Bank, Tenn.; grandchildren, Harley and Jessica Duncan, Sabrina (Josh) Williams, Gregory Stewart, Tiffany (Nick) and Olivia Hamill, Ava Meyers; great-grandchildren, Jayda, Rayleigh Stewart, Torri Jones.

Joseph Luther Shrader, age 91, Trenton, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021.
He was a member of Trenton Ministry Center. Luther loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing Rook and checkers. He also loved spending time telling stories with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Shrader; son, Donnie Shrader; granddaughter; three great–grandchildren; parents, Henry and Daily Shrader.
Survivors his son, Terry (Deborah) Shrader; grandchildren, Allen Shrader, April (Sean) Powell, Sherry (Jeff) Lacey, Nathaniel (Ayla) Shrader, Alisha Shrader, Aaron Shrader; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Betty Lynn Newman Swaggerty, 47, of Sequatchie, Tenn., passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
She was born April 18, 1974, to the late Doyle and Betty Louise Tishaw. Lynn was the Pastor of New Life Church of God in Trenton. She loved singing, preaching, visiting the elderly and praying for others. She was a loving mother, wife, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Paul Edward Newman Jr. and Randy Wade Swaggerty; parents, Doyle and Betty Louise Tishaw; several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her son, Caden Scott Newman; sisters, Kelly (Mark) Phillips, Sheila Tishaw and Selena Johnson; brother in-law, Joey (Joanna) Newman; several nephews and one niece.
Graveside services were Friday, Sept. 17 at Burns Cemetery in Sequatchie, Tenn., with by Brother Carrol Allen officiating.
