MICHAEL CUZZORT

Michael Matthew Cuzzort, 54, of Trenton, passed away Friday, Aug.  27, 2021.

He was a graduate of Northwest Georgia High School, class of 1985 and was employed at Ingles in Trenton.

He was preceded in death by this father, Richard Wayne Cuzzort, mother, Paulette Limbaugh Cuzzort, and step-mother, Linda Sue Cuzzort.

Survivors include sisters, Cristy King, Trenton, and Misty (Ricky) Cuzzort Gunter, Rome; brother, Wayne (Allison) Cuzzort, Trenton; step-brother, Rodney (Sharon) Graham and Morris Graham of Dayton, Tenn.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 29 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dewayne Moon officiating.  Interment was in Shantytown Cemetery.

JIMMY DANIEL

Jimmy Laffette Daniel, 67, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021.

Jimmy was a self-employed auto mechanic and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Daniel, Sr., and brother, Jerry Daniel.

Survivors include his son, Jimmy Daniel, Jr., Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Audrie Gilmore, Ft. Oglethorpe; mother, Gertrude Daniel Oliver, Trenton; fiancé, Lynne Miller, Trenton; brothers, Thomas (Debbie) Daniel, Jr., Georgetown, Tenn., and Jackie (Sharon) Daniel, Crossville, Tenn.; sisters, Janet (Mike) Manley, Oxford, Ala., and Myrna (Robyn) Griffin, Trenton; three grandchildren, one great–grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 30 at Brown’s Gap Cemetery with Pastor Homer Barret officiating.

MICHAEL GARNER

Michael “Mike” Garner, 64, of Ringgold, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2021.

Mike was employed by Harcros Chemicals in Dalton and was a member of Rock Bridge Church in Ringgold. He loved hunting, fishing and the Georgia Bulldogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Imogene Garner; brother, Mark Garner, and sister, Shirley Lee.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carla Sullivan Garner; children, Sunny (Adam) Parker, Ashley (Ben) Palmer, all of Ringgold, and Michael (Hilary) Garner of Calhoun; grandchildren, Sarah Ray, Austin, Mylon, Beau, and Maggie Garner; nieces and nephews; special friends, Jeff Ray, Nathan Tiffin, and Jimmy Cribb.

Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 28 in the funeral home chapel with Jeffery Sullivan and Raymond Palmer officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

LINDA DANIEL HERRON

Linda  Daniel Herron, 75, of Trenton, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021.

She was free hearted and had a very giving spirit that would do anything for anybody. Linda was a foster parent for several years and most of those still consider her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tip Herron; parents, Rick and Gene Parker; brothers, Danny Parker, Ricky Parker, and Eddie Parker.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Higginbotham; granddaughter, Tina McLain; sons, Troy (Charlene) Daniel and Robert Higginbotham; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Long and Debra (Bill) Douglas; brothers, Roy (Marge) Parker and Gary Parker; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 30 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

PHILLIP HIGDON

Phillip Lynell Higdon, 76, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021.

Phillip was a member of Woodville Holiness Church in Woodville, Ala., and was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad following 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Willa Lee Holman Higdon; son, Kevin Lee Higdon.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Faye Massey Higdon; son, Lynell (Tammy) Higdon, Flat Rock, Ala.; brothers, David (Janice) Higdon, Flat Rock, Ala., James (Martha) Higdon, Grant, Ala., and Paul (Diane) Higdon, Woodville, Ala.; sisters, Norma Anderson, and Sandra (Cliff) Henderson, all of Higdon, Ala.; grandchildren, Derrick (Tristan) Higdon, Stuart (Kristen) Higdon, Austin (Melisha) Higdon, Nathan (Melody) Dabbs, and Matthew Dabbs; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Hayden, Jasper, and Lexi.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 27th in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Higdon and Bro. Edward Atchley officiating. Interment was in the Higdon Cemetery.

HARVEY HINKLE

Harvey E. Hinkle, 81, of Chickamauga, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021.

Mr. Hinkle was born Feb. 9, 1940 in South Pittsburg, Tenn., to the late Alfred and Lydia McBee Hinkle and was a 1958 graduate of Kirkman High School where he was class Salutatorian. Harvey served in the Army National Guard and attended the Kensington Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Reba Ann Hinkle, Barbara Jean Ledwell, and Emma Jane Boswell; brother, Clifford Ray “Pete” Hinkle.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Whitaker Hinkle; son, Heath (Brandi) Hinkle; grandchildren, Manny and Amber Hinkle; great-grandchildren, Nora, Grey, and Fox Hinkle; brother, Alfred (Sue) Hinkle; sisters, Mildred Cave, Eula Lucero, Jo Davis, and Faye (Ken) Everett; sister-in-law, Linda Hinkle; nieces and nephews.

KATHY KESLER

Kathy Kesler, age 61, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021.

She attended North Sand Mountain High School. She worked at the Huddle House in Trenton, where she waitressed for 15 years before working at Integer of Trenton for 20 plus years. Mrs. Kesler was a member of Canaanland Baptist Church. She was full of joy and laughter, rooted for the Auburn Tigers, enjoyed fishing, gambling, swimming, going to the beach, and loved her grandson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jarrett Blaine Kesler; parents, Roy and Charlene Sawyer; sisters, Uveda Gail Sawyer, Mandy Renee Sawyer, and Deborah Lou Workman.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Victor Kesler of Higdon, Ala.; children, Maranda Kesler and Jordan Kesler; grandson, Jaxton Blaine Kesler; sister, Jackie Sawyer; nieces and nephews.

MIKE POSS

Michael “Mike” Poss, 51, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 after losing his battle to COVID-19. Mike was a Trenton City employee who worked for the street department. He was happily married to Misty Lawson Poss for 17 years and a devoted father to two boys. Mike was considered a “jack of all trades.” He loved to work with his hands and would build smokers and even add his own additions to his house. He was always willing to help others however he could, especially when it came to helping the schools and kids within the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Rosemary Poss, and sister, Catherine Poss.

Survivors include his wife, Misty Poss; sons, Michael Scott Poss Jr., and Mason Scott Poss; sisters, Rosie Grewer, Sue Love, Tammy Reed and Toni Chisholm; brothers, Jerry, Tim and Dave Poss; nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mike’s life at Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m., CDT.  Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 3 from 3–7 p.m., CDT.

ROBERT RUCKER

Robert William “Bob” Rucker, 73, of Wildwood, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021.

Bob was born on June 2, 1948, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late B.F. “Bud” Rucker, Jr., and Corretta Canter Rucker. He was a graduate of Glencliff High School in Nashville and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bob was employed as an engineer with CSX Transportation for 37 years and held memberships with the John B. Garrett Masonic Lodge #711, the Al Menah Shrine Temple and the Scottish Rite.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Rucker.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Rucker; daughters, Bobbette (Jason) Vaughn, Cumberland Furnace, Tenn.,, and Jaylynn Banks, Coralville, Iowa; brothers, Terry (Kathleen) Rucker, and Mark Rucker, all of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Willow, Rain, Stone, Forrest, Richard, Nick, Shelby, & Kody; step-son, Bryan (Tracy) Contorno, Trenton, GA; granddaughters, Laura (Thomas) Contorno Smith, Lookout Mountain, and Emily Contorno, Atlanta; great-granddaughter, Anniston Smith.

Mr. Rucker will be interred in the Nashville National Cemetery at a later date.

RONDAL SMITH

Rondal Edward Smith, 79, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Sunday, Aug.22, 2021.

Mr. Smith was retired as a self-employed timber harvester and was a member of the Liberty Church of God.  Rondal loved farming, cattle, and gold prospecting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Hugh and Katherine Bernice Cuzzort Smith; brother, Larry Hugh Smith; grandson, Charles Michael McCanless, Jr., and granddaughter, Katie Rosemary Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wilma Faye Smith; children, Larry Edward Smith, Rhonda (Stephen Thomas) Smith, Holly Wynette Smith, and Steven Lee Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan (Sarah) Lee Smith, Justen (Alexis) Wayne Cuzzort, Stephanie Faye Smith, Jesse Parker Smith, Cody (Stacy) Ryan Smith, Rebekah (Jacob) Nicole Curry, Naomi Renee`Smith, Hannah Katie Erin Smith, Alyssa Faye Smith, Rachel Amanda Leah Smith, Jason Hugh Smith, and Colton Range Smith; great-grandchildren, Zayne Austin Cuzzort, Elizabella Rayn Smith, Luke Vincent Smith, Ryhlee Anniston Smith, Blakelee Katherine Smith and Cade Ryder Smith; siblings, Joyce Elizabeth Campbell, James Dewey Smith, Margaret Joann Price, Loretta Bernice Price, Carolyn Louise Whited, Martha Darlene Smith, Clara Earlene McDowell, Peggy Roberta Gentry, Betty Gail Jones, and Sherry Vivian Elrod.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 27th in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with interment to follow in Straightway Cemetery, Bryant, Ala.

RENEE WILLIAMS

Shannon Renee Williams, 46, of Rising Fawn, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. Renee loved her family, enjoyed cooking for them, and loved to sing. She was a member of Fairview Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Pam Prince; brother Jeremy Prince.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Scott Williams; daughter, Savannah Rae (Brock) Brasseaux; sons, Nathan (Melanie) Dabbs, Justin Williams, Matthew Dabbs, and Austin Higdon (Melisha); grandchildren, Alexis Page, Jasper Dabbs, Brentley Williams, Briar Williams, and Maddie Brasseaux; mother, Wanda (Gary) Bearden; father, Shannon Prince; sisters, Tammy (Larry) Johnson, Beth (Jake) Endicott; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 27 in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Keith Stanford officiating. Burial was in Lake Hills Cemetery.
