CLORINE ADKINS
Clorine Shavers Adkins, 93, of Trenton, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Clorine was a charter member of White Oak Baptist Church and retired from the Davis School cafeteria.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claxton Adkins; parents, O.V. and Effie Shavers and 11 siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Mike) Wimberly; sons, Jerry Adkins, Larry (Marie) Adkins, Jimmy (Joann) Adkins; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon today, July 14 at White Oak Baptist Church with Brother Jeff Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Deer Head Cove Cemetery.

DEWAYNE GASS
DeWayne Gass, age 59, of Trenton, passed away Saturday July 10, 2021.
DeWayne worked for Mueller Company for over 20 years, where he learned the skill of powder coating. He and his wife then opened D&B Custom Powder Coating in Trenton. He was of the Baptist faith. DeWayne enjoyed everything hunting, fishing, gardening, and most importantly cherishing his two grandsons, Cole, and Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bryan Gass; grandparents Pearl and Opal Tinker; Herman and Novella Gass.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Brenda Gass of Trenton; daughter, DeVonna Gass (Kevin) Smartt of Trenton; grandsons, Cole and Hunter Smartt; mother, Bit Gass of Trenton; sister, April Holman; mother-in-law, Janie Pryor; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., today, July 14 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Michael Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow in Whitt Cemetery, Trenton.

RICHARD GASS
Roy Richard “Rick” Gass, Sr., 73, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
Ricky was a graduate of Davis High School, class of 1966 where he excelled in football and track. He attended New Salem Baptist Church, was retired from Fulmer Concrete in Chattanooga, and was a member of carpenters local #74.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ford “Buck” Gass, and Margaret Gass Duncan, and sister, Brenda Gass.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Gass; sons, Richard (Miranda) Gass of Rossville, and Ryan Gass of Higdon, Ala.; grandchildren, Kolbie, Hailey, Tori, Abby, Aiden, Aila, Kali, and Addie Gass; sister, Melinda (Garland) Smith of Trenton; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Saturday, July 10th at Brown’s Gap Cemetery with Brother Jim Hixon officiating.

MARY WHITTINGTON
Mary Alaveen Harp Whittington, 92, of Baton Rouge, La., passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Born in El Dorado, Ark., on Jan. 7, 1929, she resided in the Baton Rouge/Central area for over 80 years where she married Emil W. Whittington on July 7, 1946 to whom she was devoted to for 59 years until his death in 2005. She was totally committed to her family and friends with complete devotion to God. In the early 1960’s she helped establish Baker Church of Christ in Baker, La. At her passing she was attending Comite Church of Christ in Central, La. She volunteered with the Auxilary Volunteers “Pink Ladies” group at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, La., for many years. She enjoyed working with the Baton Rouge Garden Club and was an avid LSU Tiger fan.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Harp; mother, Aletha Darden Harp; brother, Noel Harp; daughter, Denise Ann Whittington, and granddaughter, Carrie Ann Whittington.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph Emile Whittington and wife Jettie of Holden, La., Rodney Alan Whittington, of Wildwood; James Harp Sr., of Maurepas, La., Ted Harp Sr., and wife Christel of Dallas, Texas; sister, Dorothy Cox and husband Randy of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Rodney Whittington Jr., and wife Mandy; Brooke Whittington; Misty Whittington Newton and husband Rob; Grace Whittington Hatfield and husband Michael; Mikel Whittington; Trestin Slack and husband Jared; Chase Whittington and wife Kaila; great–grandchildren Derrell Thomas III, Carrie Thomas Moore and husband Donald, Dillon Silverthorne, Will and Sam Newton and Kirsten Prewitt, Bently and Bren-lea Whittington, Cameron Whittington; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 7 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East. Interment was at Green Oaks Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ted Harp Sr., James Harp Sr., Dillon Silverthorne, Sam Newton, Rodney Whittington Jr. and Chase Whittington.
The family wishes to express its most sincere gratitude to all the staff, nurses, and aides from Clarity Hospice who nurtured and cared for Mary.
